    Abstract: A medical system that includes a foot pedal which can be used to actuate a surgical instrument. The surgical instrument may be coupled to an actuator assembly and inserted into a cornea. The actuator assembly may be coupled to the foot pedal by a cable. The foot pedal may include a platform that can be depressed by a surgeon to move the cable and actuate the surgical instrument.
