Abstract: A method of indirectly detecting a user input including running an operating system on a computer device. The operating system receives information directly from an input device. The method also includes running an application module on the computer device. The application module is configured to receive information from the input device indirectly by monitoring changes to a textbox made by the operating system in response to information received from the input device. The method also includes generating a textbox, populating the textbox with a matrix of characters, and positioning a cursor at a predetermined starting location within the textbox by the application module. The method further includes monitoring the textbox for changes caused by the operating system, detecting a change in a position of the cursor within the textbox, and performing, by the application module, a specific action in response to a direction of movement of the cursor.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to a systems and methods of loss prevention, discovery, and tracking of personal belongings through the use of wireless hardware and mobile electronic devices such as smartphones, tablet computers, and portable computers. One embodiment of the present invention may be directed to a mobile communication device comprising a processor, an antenna, a transceiver device electrically coupled to the antenna and the processor, and a computer readable medium coupled to the processor and comprising code executable by the processor to implement a method. The method may include receiving a wireless communication from a wireless apparatus attached to an object, determining a signal strength reading from the communication, determining if the signal strength reading is below an adaptable alert threshold, and if the signal strength reading is below the alert threshold, alerting a user.

Abstract: A wireless device configured to communicate with a mobile communication device in an object tracking system includes a transceiver configured to send and receive messages with the mobile communication device. Each message has a signal strength value. The wireless device also includes a first antenna coupled to the transceiver for sending and receiving the messages, a second antenna coupled to the transceiver for alternatively sending and receiving the messages, and a processor coupled to the transceiver. The processor is operable to switch between using one of the first antenna and the second antenna based on the signal strength value of an associated message.

Abstract: An object tracking system includes a wireless device having a first antenna, a first transceiver coupled to the first antenna, and a sensor coupled to the first transceiver and configured to monitor a parameter of the vehicle. The parameter is related to an operational state of the vehicle. The object tracking system also includes a mobile communication device having a second antenna, a second transceiver coupled to the second antenna and configured to communicate with the wireless device, and a processor coupled to the second transceiver. The processor is operable to generate a first list of objects when the vehicle is in a first operational state, generate a second list of wireless when the vehicle is in a second operational state, and compare the second list of objects to the first list of objects.

The graphical user interface includes a first button representing the object, a second button displaying a signal strength of the object, and a third button displaying an alarm status of the object. The method also includes displaying, in response to actuation of the first button, a settings menu screen associated with the object; displaying, in response to actuation of the second button, an alarm sensitivity menu associated with the object; and toggling on and off, in response to actuation of the third button, an alarm associated with the object.

The second wireless apparatus comprising a second processor, a mobile communication device interface element, and a second computer readable medium coupled to the second processor and comprising code executable by the second processor to implement a method comprising determining whether the second wireless apparatus is within a particular distance from the first wireless apparatus, and locking the mobile communication device from use if the second wireless apparatus is not within the particular distance from the first wireless apparatus. Some embodiments may lock the mobile communication device from use if a tamper switch has been triggered.
