    Abstract: A non-contact seat position system is provided. The system includes a lower seat track, an upper seat track, a target and a sensor. The upper seat track is positionably connected to the lower seat track, whereby the upper seat track may be positioned into a desirable location. The target is connected either to the lower seat track or the upper seat track, and the sensor is connected to the other of the lower seat track and the upper seat track. The sensor has a line of sight with the target, wherein the sensor when powered, outputs a sensor signal determined from a reflected signal coming from the target. In a first embodiment of the system, the sensor is an infrared sensor. In a second embodiment of the system the sensor is an optical sensor. A method of non-contact seat position system determination is also provided.

    Abstract: Verification of a primary or backup copy of vital information of a processing system employs a pseudo-fixed reference identifier, defined as an identifier unlikely to change over the life of the system, and controls which copy of vital information is correct. The primary copy of vital information is associated with a copy of the pseudo-fixed reference identifier and a backup copy of the vital information is associated with a copy of the pseudo-fixed reference identifier. A processor, when triggered, reads the pseudo-fixed reference identifier, compares it to the stored copies of the identifier of the primary and backup non-volatile storage. (1) If the read pseudo-fixed reference identifier matches the primary copy of the identifier, the processor indicates the vital information is valid. (2) If the read pseudo-fixed reference identifier matches the backup only, indicating that the backup copy of vital information is to be restore copied to become the primary copy.

    Abstract: An insecticidal bait composition which is preferably an arthropodicidal bait composition is disclosed. The composition is preferably comprised of a transparent gelatin matrix material and an insect attractant dispersed in the matrix along with an insecticide or anthropodicidal composition. The insecticidal or anthropodicidal composition is preferably a borate, boric acid or derivative thereof such as disodium octoborate tetrahydrate dispersed in a transparent gelatin matrix material in an amount in a range of about 0.001 to about 5% by weight based on the total weight of the composition.

    Abstract: A dually-adjustable device for firearms is provided which is attached to the muzzle of a firearm to stabilize the muzzle and to suppress the flash during firing. The device is dually adjustable to counter both the magnitude and direction of firing forces. The device is further adjustable to individual firing characteristics as well as varying powder loads in ammunition. The device includes a cylindrical-shaped main body with at least one surface opening. One end of the main body attaches to the muzzle; the main body can be rotated about the longitudinal axis of the muzzle. The device further includes a cap with a gas-restricting opening which attaches to the other end of the main body. This gas-restricting opening in the cap causes a portion of firing gases to back up and flow through the surface opening thereby causing force in the direction of the opening which serves to stabilize the muzzle. A preferred cap comprises a frustum-shaped portion which narrows towards the firearm.
