  • Patent number: 6893137
Abstract: A surgical light apparatus is disclosed having a first light source generating visible light and heat energy radiation, an enclosure surrounding the first light source and including a lens substantially transparent to visible light and a reflector for reflecting light from the first light source through the lens, and a filter apparatus coupled to the enclosure and formed at least in part from a material that is substantially transparent to at least a portion of visible light radiation and that substantially blocks transmission of heat energy radiation. The filter apparatus is configured to block transmission of heat energy radiation from the first light source to the reflector and to intercept substantially all radiation from the first light source that otherwise would pass to the reflector and through the lens. The filter apparatus includes a plurality of filter elements configured to define at least one gap between two adjacent filter elements allowing air flow therethrough.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 2, 2002
Date of Patent: May 17, 2005
    Assignee: Hill-Rom Services, Inc.
Inventors: John M. Bulko, Gerald L. Yeaney, Michael A. Taft

  • Patent number: 4593822
Abstract: A rack for holding items in a washing, washing-sterilizing or sterilizing apparatus having a frame and a plurality of wire components, each wire component having at least one end releasably secured to the frame. A plurality of sleeves, preferably made of a silicon based elastomer, are provided. One sleeve encloses the length of each wire component and is sufficiently flexible to substantially conform to the configuration of the component on which the sleeve is disposed. The sleeves are removable for selective replacement thereof.

  • Patent number: 4577764
Abstract: An improved rack for holding first or second containers in washing and/or sterilizing apparatus, where the containers include a deep bottom portion and a shallow lid which, together with the bottom portion defines an enclosed chamber, and an intermediate portion for insertion into the chamber. The improved rack includes a rigid rectangular frame defining an opening and having a substantially rectangular diagonal member and two skewed square diagonal members on each side of the rectangle, a first set of wire components disposed on the lengths of the frame for supporting the bottom portions in an inverted position spanning at least a portion of the opening, a second set of wire components disposed on the diagonals for supporting the intermediate portions in a substantially vertical position, and a third set of wire components disposed on the frame for supporting the lids in a substantially obtusely angular position relative to the frame.
