  • Patent number: 5626747
Abstract: An aquarium overflow filter system having a pre-overflow wall with openings therein improves circulation of water throughout the aquarium tank. The overflow filter system includes an overflow wall that separates the tank into a main aquarium region and a filter intake region. An intake for a wet/dry filter is located within the filter intake region. A pre-overflow wall located outside of the filter intake region encases at least part of the overflow wall to create a mixing chamber therebetween. Openings in the pre-overflow wall allow water to flow through the pre-overflow wall into the mixing chamber. The openings in the pre-overflow wall can be strategically placed to attain a desired circulation pattern within the aquarium. Water pressure at lower openings in the pre-overflow wall tends to move water upward through the mixing chamber, thus water from all the openings eventually flows over the top of the overflow wall into the filter intake region.

  • Patent number: 5328049
Abstract: This invention relates to a vivarium for keeping, raising, and/or observing animals or plants. The present invention provides a vivarium comprised of a generally rectangular tank having four side walls and a base. A pair of guide tracks extend generally along the upper edge of two of the side walls. A cover is provided which slides horizontally onto the vivarium along the guide tracks. A stop along one edge of the cover engages a clip, hanging over one of the side walls of the vivarium, when the cover is in a closed position. When the stop has engaged the clip, a locking pin may be inserted through the stop to prevent the unauthorized access to the interior of the vivarium.

  • Patent number: 3967732
Abstract: A shipping wrapper for an aquarium, the aquarium having a bottom, a front wall, a rear wall, and end walls interconnected to form an enclosure, the front, rear and end walls having an overlapping rim on the top edges. The wrapper has a bottom panel, end wall panels, and end wall rim panels hingedly connected together along fold lines and positioned generally adjacent corresponding portions of the aquarium. End flaps are hingedly connected to the end wall rim panels, the end flaps each having outwardly extending end tabs with locking edges. The end flaps are folded into the aquarium so that the locking edges of the end tabs are captured beneath the overlapping rim on the top edges of the front and rear walls of the aquarium.
