  • Patent number: 6789280
Abstract: An articulated medical bed for supporting a person in articulated movement is disclosed. The bed comprises a main frame defining a base and an articulated support frame including an upper body section pivotally connected to the base, a seat section pivotally connected to the upper body section and a detachably mounted lower leg section pivotally connected to the seat section. An elongated link member pivotally connects the lower leg section to the base. A glide member is mounted on the seat section and supported for linear movement along the base whereby the seat section is supported for rocking movement about the glide member. A linear actuator is connected to the upper body section for simultaneously actuating the upper body section, seat section and lower leg section in articulated movement. A side rail is supported on the base and includes telescoping inner and outer horizontal rail members extending between vertical rail members.

  • Patent number: 6601251
Abstract: A medical bed including a frame supported on pivoted support members wherein pivoting of the support members results in vertical movement of a patient support surface of the bed. The pivoting of the support members is accomplished by motors which are actuated by a control circuit operating in response to operator actuated switches. The bed is movable between uppermost and lowermost positions wherein a lower intermediate position is provided adjacent to and vertically spaced from the lowermost position, and an upper intermediate position is provided adjacent to and vertically spaced from the uppermost position. The controller operates to automatically stop vertical movement of the bed when it reaches either the lower intermediate position or the upper intermediate position.

  • Patent number: 5238296
Abstract: A footrest device is disclosed including a base portion adapted to rock on a lower surface thereof and a foot supporting upright portion adapted to support the feet of a person sitting in a rocking chair. The upright foot support portion includes a pivoted bolster pad and the device may be used in two modes of operation. The first mode of operation permits a person to rest his or her feet on the bolster pad with the pad in a substantially horizontal position. In the second mode of operation, the bolster pad is pivoted to a substantially vertical position such that a person may rest their feet on the base portion of the device.

  • Patent number: 5011224
Abstract: An assist chair is provided for assisting persons in rising from a sitting to a standing position. The chair includes a frame for pivotally mounting a seat. A pair of springs attached to the seat bias the seat upwardly to assist the user to a standing position. A movable attachment point for an end of the springs distal from the seat attachment point allows the upward biasing force applied to the seat to be varied from the force which would result from a fixed attachment point for the springs.
