  • Patent number: 8694297
Abstract: A porous medium exploitation method having application to petroleum exploitation is disclosed using coupling between a reservoir model and a near-wellbore model for modelling fluid flows. Fluid flows within the medium are simulated using a reservoir simulator and a near-wellbore simulator. At each time step, the boundary conditions used by the second simulator are calculated by means of with the reservoir simulator. Numerical productivity indices used by the reservoir simulator are calculated by means of using the near-wellbore simulator. The fluid flows within the porous medium during a given period of time are modelled by repeating the previous stages for several time steps. An optimum medium exploitation scenario is deduced determined from this modelling by taking into accounting for, for example, a well damage due to a drilling fluid, an injection of a polymer solution or of an acid solution in the well.

  • Publication number: 20090289060
Abstract: The invention relates to a waste bin with a holder, and an inner bin. An inner bin can be accommodated in the holder for containing waste. The inner bin can be brought into a first, nominal position in the holder. The inner bin is supportable in a second, higher position with respect to the nominal position. The inner bin is provided with gripping means for supporting the inner bin in the second position, wherein the gripping means are arranged for engaging at least a portion of an upper edge of the holder.

  • Patent number: 7099811
Abstract: The method essentially comprises acquiring initial data obtained by laboratory measurements of the values, according to the initial permeability of the formations surrounding the well, of the thickness of the cakes and of the damaged permeability and restored permeability values of this zone, as a function of the distance to the wall of the well. Then the damaged zone is discretized by a 3D cylindrical grid pattern forming blocks of small radial thickness in relation to the diameter of the well, and the diffusivity equation, modelling the flow of the fluids through the cakes, is solved in this grid pattern by taking account of the measured initial data. Finally, the evolution of the permeability is modelled as a function of the flow rates of fluids flowing through the cakes, so as to deduce therefrom the optimum conditions to be applied for producing the well.

  • Publication number: 20020188431
Abstract: Method of determining by numerical simulation the optimum conditions to be applied in a horizontal (or complex) well drilled through an underground reservoir so as to progressively eliminate (restore), by the fluids from the reservoir, deposits or cakes formed in at least a peripheral zone of the well as a result of drilling and completion operations.

  • Patent number: 6325147
Abstract: Process intended for enhanced recovery of a petroleum fluid by combined injection of an aqueous phase saturated with acid gases. The process esentially consists in continuously injecting, into the oil reservoir, a mixture of an aqueous phase and of a gas at least partially soluble in the aqueous phase and at least partially miscible with the petroleum fluid, by controlling the ratio of the flow rates of the aqueous phase and of the gas so that the latter is always in a state of saturation or oversaturation at the bottom of the injection well(s). The aqueous phase saturated or oversaturated with gas comes into contact with the petroleum fluid present in the reservoir. The gas dissolved in the aqueous phase is at least partially transferred to the liquid hydrocarbon phase, thus causing swelling and viscosity reduction of this phase, which favors migration of the petroleum fluid towards a production zone.

  • Patent number: 5244041
Abstract: In a petroliferous zone surmounting an aquifer, a lateral sweep stimulation is achieved by means of a fluid capable of displacing the petroleum effluents (a warm fluid such as steam, a solvent, etc), which is injected into the formation through a deflected injection drain, i.e. a first drain, horizontal for example), and the oil displaced by the displacement fluid is withdrawn through a withdrawing drain, i.e. a second drain, laterally offset in relation to the first drain and substantially parallel to it. In order to prevent the oil from being displaced into the aquifer and remaining trapped therein, a third drain and possibly a fourth drain closer to the interface (I) with the aquifer than the first and the second drain are bored into the petroliferous zone.

  • Patent number: 5133410
Abstract: A subterranean zone and a neighboring zone are, respectively, a petroliferous deposit and an underlying aquiferous nappe at a pressure higher than that prevailing in the subterranean zone, the two zones being separated by an intermediate substantially impervious or slightly permeable layer. A method of stimulating production of effluent from the subterranean zone includes drilling at least one deflected well, preferably nearly or totally horizontal in the intermediate layer and in connecting the two zones together through fractures of the intermediate layer made from the drain. The drain can be equipped with a pipe fitted with openings on a part of its length, with packers or like devices for effecting total or partial confining of the drain and with a fluid pressure source for causing fractures in the intermediate layer at the level of the confined portion.

Abstract: A subterranean zone and a neighbouring zone are, respectively, for example, a petroliferous deposit and an underlying aquiferous nappe at a fluid pressure higher than that prevailing in the subterranean zone. A method of stimulating production of effluent from the subterranean zone involves drilling at least one deflected drain (preferably nearly or totally horizontal) through the petroliferous zone, the neighbouring zone and an intermediate layer which separates the petroliferous zone from the aquiferous nappe. The intermediate layer is, for example, slightly permeable because of the presence of heavy and viscous hydrocarbon products. The drain is equipped with a pipe fitted with openings at the subterranean zone and at the neighbouring zone and with packer devices selectively positioned in the pipe. A controlled opening of one packer device during production allows injection of water under pressure into the subterranean zone in order to promote production of effluent therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5016709
Abstract: A process for the assisted recovery of heavy hydrocarbons from an underground formation having a plurality of superimposed reservoirs for the hydrocarbons involves arranging horizontal sections of a plurality of wells so that a first well of a first series of wells extend into a reservoir and is located essentially vertically below a horizontal section of a second well located in an immediately adjacent reservoir, with the first well being used as a steam injection well and the second well being used as a hydrocarbon-producing well.
