  • Patent number: 5611234
Abstract: The process consists in increasing the height of the rail to the detriment of the thickness of the web (16) and of the flange (18). Firstly, the thickness of the upper part of the web (16) below the head (14) is reduced by machining and, next, the rest of the web (16) and the flange (18) of the rail (10) are heated up and deformed by forging. This process avoids hardness modifications of the running surface of the rail.

  • Patent number: 5419490
Abstract: A point rail for switching gear comprises a head (10) with a running surface (.SIGMA.), a web (20) with a mid plane (.pi.) and a base (30). The running surface (.SIGMA.) is inclined relative to this mid plane (.pi.). The base (30) has two unequal wings (300), the larger of which is situated on the side towards which the running surface (.SIGMA.) is inclined. The center of gravity (G) is situated out of the mid plane (.pi.) and placed on the side with the larger wing (300). The point rail has application to switching gears for long welded rail tracks on which very-high-speed trains run.

  • Patent number: 5366184
Abstract: The present invention relates to a seat for the movable point in a cradle of a crossing frog incorporated in long welded rails and the process for production of such a seat. The seat is characterized in that the connection between the movable point (1) and the element (2") of the cradle constituted by two rails (3 and 4) is effected by an essentially mechanical assembly. The invention is more particularly applicable to the field of the construction of railway equipment, particularly, crossing frogs.

  • Patent number: 5224672
Abstract: An apparatus includes running surfaces made from metallic I-beams one of the flanges of which is adapted to support tires, whereas the web is adapted to receive flat strips which are substantially perpendicular to the web. At least one of the flanges is adapted to receive stiffening flat strips which are substantially parallel to the web. Troughs made from a metallic U-section channel are adapted to be fixed at least partly to one of the flat strips and flanges and open toward the flange adapted to support the tires. Such flanges, web, flat strips and channel are united to constitute a formwork into which is poured concrete whose level is flush with the level of the flanges.

  • Patent number: 5133522
Abstract: A process for producing a crossing frog with moving point (1) for very long railway switches incorporated in long welded rails. The frog also comprises a cradle (2) in two elements (3 and 4), one molded and the other not molded. The method comprises welding, on a point side of the frog, the molded element (3) of the cradle (2) to the rolling rails (7) of an intermediate track of a branch, fixing parts (5 and 5') to the moving point (1) so as to form the non-molded element (4) of the cradle (2); rigidifying the non-molded element (4); interconnecting, by means of a non-welded joint, the subassembly formed by the molded element (3) welded to the rolling rails (7) and the subassembly formed by the non-molded element (4) formed by the parts (5 and 5') and the moving point (1), and finally, welding the moving point (1) to the rolling rails (9) on a heel side of the frog.

  • Patent number: 5082214
Abstract: A crossing frog with moving point (1) for very long railway switches incorporated in long welded rails, comprises a cradle (2) in two elements (3 and 4), one molded and the other not molded. One element (3) is of molded steel, of which at least the two ends (3A and 3B) on the point side and the two ends (3C and 3D) on the heel side are shaped as a rail profile. However, only the rail profile of the two ends (3A and 3B) effectively serves for rolling, the non-molded element (4) being mainly made up of parts (5 and 5') produced integrally as rails and connected to the two ends (3C and 3D) on the heel side of the molded part (3). Neither the rail profile of the two ends (3C and 3D) nor the rail profile of the parts (5 and 5') effectively serves as rolling surface, the moving point (1), for its part, being produced integrally as rails of which all the upper faces effectively serve as rolling surface.
