  • Publication number: 20150161927
Abstract: A driving apparatus comprises a plurality of pixels provided in an array employing the 2-column inversion scheme, a 1:2 multiplexer and a data driving unit. Each pixel comprises a plurality of sub-pixels corresponding to different colors respectively. The 1:2 multiplexer coupled to the two pixels multiplexes a data source over one of the sub-pixels in the m column and the other of the sub-pixels in the m+1 column of the same row corresponding to the same color and the same polarity, wherein m is positive integers. The data driving unit is coupled to the 1:2 multiplexer through a plurality of data lines and provides the data source to the 1:2 multiplexer. The data lines do not have to switch between sub-pixels, nor polarity, which is beneficial for power consumption, and for front-of screen performance, which may be influenced by artefacts caused by the switching of the multiplexer.

  • Patent number: 8248393
Abstract: A color display device, a drive circuit for a color display device, a method, a signal and a computer-readable medium for reducing electro-optical cross talk that occurs in a display that is operated in Spectrum Sequential mode is disclosed. The invention eliminates annoying visible artifacts, such as contouring, noise, or color deviation, which normally are introduced by this cross talk by compensating for the cross talk. According to embodiments of the invention, a drive signal (R?,G?,B?) to drive picture elements of the display is altered in video processing circuitry (MPC, XTC, SC) and/or software, in dependence on one or more properties of different spectra from a light source (23, 24) in the display. The invention is implemented with little extra effort and cost in known LCD displays.

  • Patent number: 8248430
Abstract: A method converts an input image signal (IS) into a drive signal (DS) for driving sub-pixels (SP) of a display device (DD) comprising display pixels (DPI) having at least two sub-pixel groups (SG1, SG2) being able to contribute to luminance information displayed. The conversion comprises a multi-primary conversion (MPC) which receives the input image signal (IS) and which is performed under a constraint (CO). The constraint (CO) is determined (CD) by substantially matching local display luminances (DL1, DL2; DLD) associated with the at least two sub-pixel groups (SG1, SG2) with corresponding local input luminances (L1, L2; LD) of input pixels (IP) of the input image signal (IS), thereby obtaining a display luminance pattern defined by the display pixels (DPI) corresponding to an input luminance pattern defined by the input pixels (IP) associated with the display pixels (DPI).

  • Patent number: 8237747
Abstract: A method is described which converts a three primary color input signal (Cx, Cy, Cz) into N drive signals (P1, . . . , PN) to drive N>3 primary colors of a multi-primary color display (3). The method determines (1) a valid range (VS) wherein the N drive signals (P1, . . . , PN) have valid values by performing the steps of (i) defining 3 functions representing 3 of the drive signals (P1, P2, P3) as a function of the remaining N?3 drive signal(s) (P4, . . . , PN), and (ii) calculating (1) a common range in a space formed by the N?3 drive signal(s) (P4, . . . , PN) wherein each one of the 3 functions has valid values. The method selects (2) a point from the common range to determine the N drive signals (P1, . . . , PN).
