  • Patent number: 8864837
Abstract: The present invention relates to a screw-in element having a changing thread profile, in particular an artificial hip joint socket which may be screwed in, and a method for producing screw-in elements of this type. For the purpose of implementing a specific curve of the thread tooth height along the thread extension, it is suggested that the flank of the thread tooth pointing in the screw-in direction be implemented having a constant angle, and the other flank of the thread tooth be implemented having a changing angle. In addition, it is suggested that a type of staircase function made of ramps and steps be superimposed on the thread course to implement a clearance angle and an exposed position of the thread tooth in this way. The practical implementation of the method requires a CNC machine, preferably a CNC lathe, having a so-called B axis and a specific procedure in regard to the programming.

  • Patent number: 8206454
Abstract: The present invention relates to a self-cutting screw-in element, e.g., an artificial hip joint socket, having a lateral surface which is at least partially curved or buckled in the threaded area, and a thread interrupted by at least one flute having a thread tooth profile tilted in the feed direction, in which the cutting edge formed between flute and thread tooth is displaced on the side of the thread tooth opposite to the feed direction, and/or in which the inclination or twist direction of the flute runs opposite to the twist direction of the thread and the inclination or twist angle of the flute is larger than the pitch angle of the thread. A design of this type is advantageous for specific applications because the forces necessary for screwing-in may thus be significantly reduced without disadvantageous effect on the other properties.

  • Patent number: 7942086
Abstract: A process for hobble lathing, and preferred process applications, for the cutting of workpieces with non-circular or discontinuous contours on programmable lathes. The use and combination of a special program e.g. of thread cycles and hobble values for the diameter and/or the longitudinal axis or the pitch, the angle of the spindle, in option of a reciprocal-step technique and interleaved machining sequences opens up virtually infinite possibilities. The preferred applications of the process allow special threads to be cut on screw-in bodies, e.g. screw-in artificial hip joint sockets and bone screws for example with neutral or virtually any angle of pitch or relief of the thread blade as well as e.g. internal and external contours on workpieces for circular wedge connections. A particularly beneficial hip joint socket is presented comprising so-called screw or threaded surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6227082
Abstract: The invention pertains to a special process and devices for the production preferably by machining of workpieces with non-circular outer and inner contours such as squares, hexagons, ellipses, polygons and the like, or eccentric circular bores and/or tappets. In the claimed process, the workpiece is rotated at constant angular velocity while a tool (e.g. the blade of a lathe tool) set eccentrically in relation to the workpieces if moved without rotating about is own axis at controllable speed in a circular path, workpiece and tool being moved towards one another in cycles with the appropriate advance. This ensures that apart from a small cuttings volume far each advance, very narrow tolerances can be set.

  • Patent number: 5997578
Abstract: A process for producing threads by metal cutting when a more or less gradual change of the thread profile is desired in at least one of its sections. When producing a thread by turning, by milling or by turning and milling, the thread is cut in at least two successive operations with at least two different thread pitches and/or an offset value or a continuously changing pitch. The process is preferred for making possible a gradual change in the height and shape of the teeth or, as the case may be, the design of the thread bottom of a self-cutting thread to be progressively adapted to the curved outer profile of an artificial hip-joint socket.

  • Patent number: 5694819
Abstract: The invention concerns a special process and a device for the form cutting and form turning of work pieces. It is proposed, for a processing of this type for the purpose of production of unround geometries of this type as well as also work pieces as also the machining tool to rotate with a precisely defined opposingly radially spacing, preferably in the like direction of rotation, and thereby the number of rotations of the two rotating components with a determined like rotation number relationship so to correspond with respect to each other, that a simple cutter of the machining tool during its orbit about 360.degree. comes into contact with the work piece to be machined only in a partial sector of an "active" sector. Thereby it is so controlled according to the invention within this machining sector and forcibly guided by means of a curve disk in a radial plane, that out of the relative movement to the rotating work piece the geometry to be machined is produced.

  • Patent number: 5085790
Abstract: The invention relates to a heat transfer composition comprising at least two members selected from the group consisting of:a) strontium hydroxide octahydrato;b) lithium hydroxide monohydrate; andc) non-hydrate forming chloride or nitrates, wherein for a mixture comprising a) and b) the composition contains from about 40 to about 60 mol % of one hydroxide hydrate relative to the other hydroxide hydrate and for a composition containing c) and a) or b), the composition contains from about 5 to about 40% by weight of c) based on the total weight of hydroxide hydrate. These mixtures have high caloric values and are useful for a variety of applications such as preheaters for car engine cooling water systems.

  • Patent number: 4950002
Abstract: The invention concerns a sealing connection, based on a flat gasket of rectangular cross section, for the static sealing of construction elements. The shapes of the sealing surfaces according to the invention lead to a disc-spring-like bending of the gasket, superposed by a compressing deformation, by which an outstanding tightness even at lowest pressing forces is guaranteed. With that the application spectrum reaches from ultra high vacuum to high pressure, and from cryogenic to high temperatures.

  • Patent number: 4795580
Abstract: Latent heat storage medium based on polyvalent aliphatic alcohols of the general formula (I) where n=4, 6 or 8 (preferably 4 or 6) and with such a configuration isomerism that there is created a configuration which is symmetrical about the middle of the chain. Preferably two or more of these alcohols are used mixed together, whereby the melting temperature and/or the supercooling temperature of the medium can be regulated to a specific value by choosing the ratio of the mixture, which can be eutectic, hypoeutectic or hypereutectic. The proposed latent heat storage media are ideal for use in heat protection systems for measurement probes used in geotechnic bore holes. They cover the required temperature range, are marked by unusually high volume/specific melting enthalpy at moderate densities, are cycle-resistant and exhibit low heat conductivity. The boiling points are often significantly above 300.degree. C., and their temperature resistance extends substantially into the boiling point range.

  • Patent number: 4694902
Abstract: The procedure of the invention for determining the jamming point of a pipe line in a drill hole is characterized by applying a constant torsional and/or tensile force to the jammed pipe above ground while a device made according to the invention called a free point probe travels through the pipe at constant speed. The free point probe includes one or two magneto strictive analyzers, which are held by spring pressure against the inner side of the pipe to be examined. During the travel of the free point probe, ideally when pulling it up, the compressive and tensile stresses resulting from the forces acting upon the pipe are read by the analyzer(s) in one area of the inner surface of the pipe and translated into proportional measurement signals. At the same time, the forces acting upon the pipe are measured above ground by means of appropriate receptors. The signals thus obtained are registered and corrected with the help of a data processing system above ground.
