Abstract: Dyes of the formula ##STR1## in which Me is cobalt or chromium, A is a diazo component of a benzene or naphthalene which carries a hydroxyl or carboxyl group in the o-position relative to the azo group, B is an o-aminonaphthol, R and R' independently of each other are each benzene or naphthalene which can carry further substituents, but no arylamino radicals, no sulfo groups and no metallizable groups, in the o-position relative to the azo group, Ka is a cation, p is 0 or 1, m and n independently of each other are each such a number from 0 to 1 that the total n+m is a number from 1 to 2, and q is an integer from 1 to 6 are particularly suitable for dyeing wool or polyamide and especially leather in shades of deep brown, grey and black.These dyes exhibit good affinity, good acid and alkali stability, and good fastness.

Abstract: Dyes of the formula I ##STR1## in which A, B, C, D, E, F, Z, Z', X, X', n, n.sub.1, n.sub.2 and n.sub.3, p and Ka.sup..sym. are as defined in claim 1, are particularly suitable for dyeing wool or polyamide and especially leather.

Abstract: 1:2 Cobalt complex dyes of azo compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein D is a phenyl or naphthyl radical which is substituted by sulphonic acid groups, halogen atoms, alkyl, alkoxy, nitro, cyano, acylamino or arylazo groups or is unsubstituted, and R is a hydrogen atom, a sulpho group, a halogen atom or a methyl group, and wherein the total number of sulpho groups present is 1 to 3. The dyes are suitable for dyeing polyamide materials such as wool, silk, synthetic polyamides and leather, particularly the latter. The dyes give full brown shades of good covering power with excellent fastness to light.

Abstract: Cobalt and chromium complex dyes which contain, bonded to a metal atom, one molecule of each of the azo compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is methyl or ethyl and the phenyl ring a is unsubstituted or substituted by 1 to 2 chlorine atoms, nd mixtures thereof with the symmetrical 1:2 cobalt or chromium complex dyes of the azo compounds of the formulae (1) and (2), said dyes being useful in the dyeing and printing of a variety of materials, especially nitrogen containing materials such as silk, leather, polyamides, polyurethanes and especially wool to obtain level dyes having good fastness to light, washing, water, hot water, fulling, decatizing and carbonizing.

Abstract: A heavy metal complex of an azo compound of the formula ##STR1## in which A is a substituted or unsubstituted carboxy- or sulpho-phenyl radical or a carboxy- or sulpho- naphthyl radical, p is 1 or 2, R.sub.1 is hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, nitro, alkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy or acylamino, R.sub.2 is hydrogen or alkyl, R.sub.3 is hydroxyl or amino, R.sub.4 is hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, cyano, amino, amino substituted by 1 or 2 alkyl radicals, arylamino, morpholino, pyrrolidino, piperidino, mercapto, alkylthio, arylthio, sulpho or arylsulphonyl and R.sub.5 is hydrogen, chlorine or bromine and one of the radicals R.sub.1 and --SO.sub.2 --NR.sub.2 --A is bonded to the benzene ring in the 4-position and the other is bonded to the benzene ring in the 5-position or 6-position, and 1 or 2 molecules of the azo compound of the formula (1) are bonded to one atom of copper, nickel, chromium or cobalt; such dyes being suitable for dyeing and printing polyamide materials, such as wool, silk, leather and synthetic polyamides.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for dyeing or printing natural protein fibres in deep, black, brown, and navy blue shades, wherein protein fibres are dyed from an aqueous liquor, in the presence of a levelling agent, with a metal complex of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents hydrogen, an alkyl, aralkyl or aryl radical, R.sub.2 represents an acryloyl, acetyl or a propionyl radical which is substituted by one or two halogen atoms, Me represents a chromium-III or cobalt-III ion and X represents hydrogen, nitro, chlorine, methyl, methoxy, acetylamino, chloroacetylamino or propionylamino, or the dyestuff is transferred from a support by transfer printing.

Abstract: A process is described for the manufacture of chromium complexes of metallizable dyes in the form of solid dyestuff powders of low salt to salt-free content, or of concentrated solutions of low salt or salt-free content in which a metallizable dye, or a mixture of metallizable dyes, in an organic solvent which is immiscible or sparingly miscible with water, or reacted with a chromium compound, in the course of which any water which is liberated is removed by azeotropic distillation, and the resulting chromium complex, provided it is a 1:1 complex, is then optionally reacted in the presence of a base with a further mol of a metallizable dye, or of a colorless, complexforming compound, then isolated from undissolved constituents, and the resulting dye solution of low salt or salt-free content is optionally concentrated or evaporated to dryness, whereby it is possible the manufacture of 1:1 or 1:2 chromium complexes without the handicap of effluent pollution, and to isolate the dyes without using salt.

Abstract: A process for dyeing and printing hydrophilic fibrous material by the transfer printing process using carriers that are treated with at least one transferable, metallizable dye or color former and optionally a binder that is stable below 230.degree. C, which comprises impregnating the material to be dyed or printed with a solution which containsA. at least one organic solvent with a boiling point higher than 100.degree. Abstract: Chromium complex dyes which, in the form of their free acid, have the formula ##STR1## wherein one X represents the sulphonic acid group and the other X represents the nitro group, Y is a sulfone or sulfonamide group and Z is an acyl group. The dyes are suitable for dyeing natural and synthetic polyamides to produce dyeings which are level and have good fastness to light, perspiration, fulling, decatizing and carbonizing.

Abstract: The heavy metal complexes of azo dyestuffs of formula ##STR1## where B is hydrogen, chloro or bromo and D is the residue of a diazo component of the benzene or naphthalene series that contains an hydroxyl, carboxyl or amino group in the position ortho to the azo group, are useful to dye substrates, notably wool, in level green and blue shades having good resistance to acid, alkali, light and rubbing.
