  • Patent number: 5484034
Abstract: A motor vehicle has a supporting frame with a bearer part which is arranged thereon and on which, in turn, additional units together with their connecting lines are pre-assembled. To simplify assembly or repair, the frame has, in the region of the wheel housing, a perforation. In the region of the perforation, the bearer part is assembled. After the mounting of the bearer part equipped with the additional units and the connection or laying of the connecting lines, the perforation is subsequently closed. That is, after the painting of the frame, the perforation is closed by a cover plate which can be attached on the outside.

  • Patent number: 5048888
Abstract: A subassembly for the front and rear region of a motor vehicle, which comprises two longitudinal members to which a subframe designed as assembly carrier is attached by one end region of two elongate carrier parts. The members are together used for energy absorption in the case of a vehicle impact and are fixed by their ends, which project as far as a passenger compartment, with laterally spaced longitudinal members reinforcing the latter at the vehicle floor. After they have been fixed on the longitudinal members, the carrier parts extend freely with a portion oriented approximately in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle towards the passenger compartment and are guided with an obtuse-angled bend about a vertical axis towards the respective proximate longitudinal member and attached to the latter. Near to the bend, these carrier parts are connected in the longitudinally oriented portion by a subframe cross member.

  • Patent number: 4900082
Abstract: A front section for a motor vehicle, especially passenger motor vehicle which has the task during normal driving operation to absorb without permanent deformation the forces stemming from the wheel suspension and to absorb by deformation the energy occurring in case of an impact of the vehicle. The front section according to the invention should be manufacturable cost-favorably and rationally with a small number of parts and is to offer a high safety for the vehicle passengers. The end wall of the front section is thereby divided horizontally into an upper part and a lower part, and the fork bearer is made of an upper shell and of a lower shell while one shell of the fork bearer is made in one piece with the lower part of the end wall. The front section made in this manner offers additionally a high degree of safety for the vehicle passengers in the passenger cell and is suited especially for passenger motor vehicles in which longitudinal bearers are supported at an end wall by way of fork bearers.

  • Patent number: 4601510
Abstract: A front body structure for motor vehicles, with an end wall and with an equipment space which is arranged in front of the end wall in the engine space and is partitioned off from the latter and which is covered at the top by an engine hood, there being in the central region of the end wall and air-passage orifice for a blower located in the equipment space as part of a heating air-conditioning system. To ensure that sensitive built-in parts are accommodated so as to be protected and that, at the same time, the front body structure is reinforced, the invention proposes to divide the equipment space into three regions by means of longitudinal walls serving at the same time for stiffening, and to supplement the transverse wall of the central region, this transverse wall facing the engine space, with an attached half-shell, to form the hollow girder serving for guiding communicating lines such as electrical lines.

  • Patent number: 4597323
Abstract: A fresh air supply device for a heating, ventilating and/or air-conditioning installation of a motor vehicle is provided wherein the fresh air enters through a gap between the windshield and the hood into an air collecting tank. In order to prevent the admission of moisture to an air filter and to prolong its useful life, the water flowing off the windshield and entrained by the airstream is received by a channel oriented in the transverse direction of the vehicle. This channel is followed by a grill for separating out larger particulate matter entrained in the airstream. A downward-pointing ledge adjoins the grill for further demoisturizing and to deflect the air and at least partially covers a dust filter which is arranged in such a position in the airstream that dust dropping from its dirty side falls freely downwards.

  • Patent number: 4591202
Abstract: A front assembly for motor vehicles, with a cross-member extending underneath a windshield and with an end wall which adjoins the cross-member at the bottom and in front of which is located, on the same side as the engine space, an equipment space which is divided into a central space and lateral spaces adjacent to the control space, each on the right and left respectively and which is partitioned off from the engine space by partition walls, the end wall possessing, in the region of the central part space, a passage orifice for air conveyed by a blower of a heating and or airconditioning system of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4549762
Abstract: The application relates to an apparatus for discharging hot air generated by an internal combustion engine from the engine compartment of motor vehicles, particularly private motor cars or estate cars, which include front quarter panels extending along the sides of the engine compartment and inner fenders providing front wheel wells. In order to develop an arrangement of this kind so that it will have the simplest possible, weight-saving construction and so that air outlet apertures can be concealed, the present invention discloses that in the region of the engine compartment, air inlets are provided leading into a cavity formed by the arcuate wheel well panel, the front quarter panel, and the wheel well roof panel. Further, this cavity is in communication with air outlets lying in the region of a front vertical door gap and disposed substantially in a transverse plane of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4410212
Abstract: A motor vehicle provided with an engine space or trunk arranged in the forward end thereof and with an end wall located between the space or trunk and the passenger compartment. A brake pedal, mounted in a suspended fashion connected to a braking device located outside of the passenger compartment, extends through the end wall. The braking device is arranged so that, upon a frontal structural deformation caused by a collision, the brake device executes a pivotal motion by which the brake pedal is guided away from the driver of the vehicle and against the end wall. A two-stage deformation member is provided which includes a rigid upper pot-shaped deformation member to which the braking device is attached. A pedal shaft of the brake pedal is mounted in an upper zone of the upper pot shaped member, the upper pot shaped member passes over by way of a step or shoulder into a larger deformable lower pot-shaped member connected with the end wall.

  • Patent number: 4359120
Abstract: An automotive vehicle, especially a passenger motor vehicle, with front body sections yielding with respect to forces of a magnitude of a pedestrian impact acting from the front and/or from above the body sections. The body sections are constructed so as to be impact-resilient along their boundary edges. The vehicle body sections include a front hood and/or body portions surrounding the front hood, with the hood and surrounding body parts being supported on reinforcing parts of the vehicle body structure by way of permanently deformable deformation members.
