  • Patent number: 5891933
Abstract: Alkali and alkali earth metal titanates used for friction stabilization of friction materials such as, but not limited to, disk brake pads, brake drum linings, clutch disks, and other friction applications are described. Examples of suitable alkali and alkali earth metal titanates include, without limitation, potassium titanate, sodium titanate, and calcium titanate. Preferably, the alkali or alkali earth metal titanates are present in an amount from about 3 volume percent to about 25 volume percent based on the total volume of the friction material matrix.
