Abstract: A method and system are provided that examine incoming and outgoing TTY transmissions to determine an identifier for distinguishing between correspondents in a TTY call. The system may utilize contact information associated with an incoming or outgoing call to provide visual distinctions, and/or flow control, to the text from each party as it is displayed on a TTY device.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for representing a conversation of related messages is provided. In a message collection user interface for displaying messages sent and received by a communications device, a dynamic session placeholder is used for a respective conversation of related messages. The message collection user interface is displayed including any dynamic session placeholders in the list of messages. As messages from the conversation are occasioned, the dynamic session placeholder is updated. When the message collection is displayed, it is displayed in accordance with the updated session placeholder.

An instant messaging database may be used to store instant messaging data, the instant messaging data including instant messaging contacts and instant messaging (IM) presence information to indicate whether the instant messaging contacts may currently be accessed by the instant messaging application. An address book database may be used for storing address book data. An aggregated data viewer may be used to relate instant messaging data from the instant messaging database with address book data from the address book database.

Abstract: A system and method of resizing an image on a mobile communication device prior to transmitting to an online image repository is disclosed. In accordance with one embodiment, the method comprises: determining a size of an original image; determining whether there are any default file sizes to which the original image may be resized; when a default file size does not exist, receiving a custom image size, resizing the original image in accordance with the received custom image size to create a resized image, and transmitting the resized image to the online image repository.

In an embodiment, the user interface embodies a method of selecting a photo tag for a tagged photo, comprising: providing a tag entry field for entering a photo tag; in dependence upon a string entered by a user, displaying in a matching tag list any tags from one or more selected tag sources matching the entered string. The method may further comprise displaying a tag type for each tag appearing in the matching tag list. The method may further comprise allowing user selection of a tag in the matching tag list to complete the tag entry field.

Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method for resizing an image on a handheld mobile communication device prior to uploading to an image repository. In an embodiment, the method comprises: determining the size of an original image; determining any upload size restrictions for uploading the image to the image repository; and in dependence upon the upload size restrictions, resizing the original image to a new resized image to meet the upload size restriction. In another embodiment, the method may further comprise specifying at least one user selectable image size for resizing the original image; receiving a user selection of a desired image size; and resizing the original image to the user selected desired image size. A mobile device receives an message that alerts the user that a voicemail message has been received. When a user dials into the voicemail system to retrieve the message, a message is sent from the mobile device to the voicemail system to tell the voicemail system to queue-up the message for playback. The message proceeds from the mobile device through a relay to a virtual Message Service Center (MSC) gateway over a high-speed GPRS connection. The virtual MSC gateway sends the message to the voicemail system over a permanent or substantially permanent connection. Communications are acknowledged to increase reliability. The voicemail system is ready to play the message when the voice call is received.
