  • Patent number: 5796184
Abstract: A method and an apparatus are provided for stopping a motor-driven pressure generating pump of a system for coating workpieces with atomized liquid coating material in case of an empty material reservoir or a leakage in a material supply from a material reservoir to the pump or from the pump to an atomizer. The pressure and/or the volume flow at the pump outlet and/or the speed of the pump piston or a value dependent thereon are continually measured. The measured values are then converted to electric signals to be input to an electronic analyzer and analyzed therein. If, during operation, the pressure and/or the volume flow drops below a predetermined value and/or the speed of the piston exceeds a predetermined value, the electrically controlled driving connection between motor and pump or the power supply to the pump motor will be cut-off by output signals from the electronic analyzer.

  • Patent number: 5370314
Abstract: In a spray gun for airless spraying of paints, the gun body and the handle are formed by thin-walled component parts composed of a chemically resistant, high-strength material, preferably stainless steel, and are each respectively entirely or partially surrounded with a closed covering composed of a chemically resistant material having low density. As a result of this design, a spray gun is created that exhibits low weight and, thus, can be used fatigue-free over a longer time span. Further, no chemical reactions occur when processing aggressive media; damage to the component parts is thus largely precluded. A portion of a hoop guard is detachable and functions as a tool for disengaging a portion of the handle housing a filter.

  • Patent number: 5306122
Abstract: A diaphragm pump with a flat diaphragm which is held between the face surface of a pump head and the corresponding face surface of a hydraulic block is improved in that the annular clamping region has an angling step such that the clamped-in diaphragm is bent in its outer annular border region. In this way, a sealed tightness is achieved over long time periods, as well as inducing a uniform diaphragm tension which effects performance of the pump advantageously. Inventive valve designs are provided which allow removal for cleaning from outside the assembled pump and also allows manual /pening of the valves for unclogging. An efficient design is provided for a pump head.

  • Patent number: 5188290
Abstract: In an electrostatic compressed air paint spray gun, the overall exit area of the compressed air discharge opening as well as the pressure and the quantity of the supplied compressed air are dimensioned such and matched such to one another that, first, the ratio (V.sub.L) of the air pressure (P.sub.1) prevailing immediately upstream of the compressed air discharge opening to the air pressure (P.sub.2) prevailing downstream of the compressed air discharge opening is less than 2:1 and, second, quantity and flow rate of the compressed air emerging from the compressed air discharge opening and magnitude of the applied high-voltage guarantee an adequate atomization of the paint as well as a conveying of the atomized paint particles to the workpiece with a given paint throughput and given paint viscosity. A high precipitation efficiency and a good paint compass are thus achieved.

  • Patent number: 5145331
Abstract: In a diaphragm or membrane pump, the diaphragm thereof is composed of two diaphragm disks arranged at an axial distance from one another and enclosing an interior space whose size is variable given damage to one of the diaphragm disks. Further, a signal generator is arranged in that diaphragm disk facing toward the conveying chamber and a signal pick-up is arranged in the pump housing, this signal pick-up being connected to a means for the electronic evaluation and amplification of the signals output by the signal pick-up. This embodiment makes it possible to recognize a potential damage to the diaphragm early and to thus reliably prevent hydraulic medium from proceeding into the conveyed medium.

  • Patent number: 5073092
Abstract: A diaphragm pump with a pumping component composed of a paint stage and propulsion stage; a hydraulic component; and an engine component such as a motor, fashioned such that, in a first predefined position or orientation the hydraulic component and the motor are mounted to each other in side-by-side arrangement, and the pumping component sits on top of the hydraulic component, whereby it is possible to cant the diaphragm pump by 90.degree. and thus bring it into a second operable position for orientation. Unguided paint valves are thereby applied such that, in both positions of the pump, they enclose the same angle with the horizontal line. A measuring stick and an intake line are strategically arranged to be useable in both positions of the pump. A stationary support frame and a mobile support frame are presented to facilitate the flexible positioning or orientation of the pump.

  • Patent number: 4828464
Abstract: In a diaphragm pump including a first chamber for liquid to be pumped separated from a second chamber for drive fluid by a diaphragm which is driven by a piston alternatively placing the drive fluid under pressure and releasing the pressure from the drive fluid, a signal generator or magnet is located in the diaphragm while a signal detector is located within the pump housing to enable detection of displacement of the diaphragm and, accordingly, the displaced volume of the diaphragm pump. Detection of the displaced volume is used by a regulator to generate a drive signal which, in turn, is used to drive a motor operator connected to a pressure relief valve to control drive fluid pressure and, accordingly, the displaced volume.

  • Patent number: 4546141
Abstract: A primer coating composition which is particularly suitable for topcoating with fluorocarbon polymers is described, this primer composition contains(a) 100 parts by weight of a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene, perfluoro(alkylvinyl) ethers and if appropriate hexafluoropropylene or vinylidene fluoride,(b) 10 to 250 parts by weight of a mixture of lithium hydroxide and finely divided silicon dioxide produced by thermal treatment,(c) 10 to 1000 parts by weight of at least one thermoplastic resin from the group comprising the polyarylene sulfide resins, the aromatic polyether-sulfone resins and the aromatic polyether-ketone resins and(d) water as a liquid carrier.Up to 80 parts by weight of component (a) can, if appropriate, be replaced by dispersed polytetrafluoroethylene particles. The primer composition is especially suitable for application on articles with uneven surfaces, since it is sufficiently adhesion-promoting even in relatively thick layers.

  • Patent number: 4403924
Abstract: A method and device for regulating diaphragm pumps during standby which reduces power input demands during non-delivery standby conditions while assuring a maintenance of working pressure upon a sudden change to a delivery condition which utilizes pressure of the drive fluid as a regulating variable by retaining a portion thereof outside of the drive chamber and using the pressure of the retained portion to control one or both of an intake aperture to the drive chamber or a pressure limiting outlet valve from the drive chamber.

  • Patent number: 4395445
Abstract: Coating formulations having improved adhesion are described which are especially suitable as primer for top coats of fluorocarbon polymers, which comprise (a) a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene units, units of a perfluoroalkylvinyl ether and optionally units of hexafluoropropylene or vinylidene fluoride, (b) optionally dispersed polytetrafluoroethylene particles in addition, (c) a mixture of lithium hydroxide and suspended fine-particle pyrogenic SiO.sub.2, and (d) water as liquid carrier. The coating formulations are applied according to known methods to substrates such as metals, glass or ceramic surfaces. They may be used as single-layer systems without top coat, or as primer, the top coat being applicable immediately after a short-time drying only. Application fields are the coating of household equipment or technical apparatus, where a high-grade adhesion onto the substrate, combined with anti-adhesive properties and a smooth surface are obtained.

  • Patent number: 4312382
Abstract: A pressure peak compensator for compensating the pressures of a pulsating stream of liquid in a liquid pressure line comprises first and second opposed accumulator portions each having a pressure chamber which is connectable to the liquid line. Each accumulator includes a diaphragm extending across the pressure chamber which has a first side away from the pressure chamber which is disposed in a respective gas chamber and an opposite second side exposed to the liquid pressure in the pressure chamber. The diaphragms are movable between two end positions and in each end position the housing includes backing plates for backing the diaphragm along its contour in its end position. The respective gas chambers may be made of the same or different volumes and one or more of these chambers and diaphragms may be provided in each of the accumulator portions.
