  • Publication number: 20200154690
Abstract: An insect trap may include a first housing; a reservoir at least partially defined by the first housing; a protrusion disposed within the reservoir and extending inward from an interior surface of the first housing, the protrusion configured to pierce a package disposed within the reservoir; an actuator connected to the protrusion such that when the actuator is moved, the protrusion moves with the actuator within the reservoir; a second housing moveably engaging the first housing; a trap chamber partially formed by the first and second housings; an inlet into the trap chamber; and wherein the second housing is movable between a first position where the inlet is open and a second position where the inlet is closed. The trap may include a package enclosing an attractant composition. The package has a release rate of the attractant composition from about 5 ?g per day to about 500 ?g per day.

  • Publication number: 20190335740
Abstract: Compositions attractive to mice include one or more long-range volatiles and one or more short-range volatiles. The long-range volatiles can include butyric acid, 2-methylbutyric acid, and 4-heptanone. Devices and methods of using the compositions are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20180317473
Abstract: Systems and methods for attracting insects by simulating wing flash are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for attracting insects by simulating wing flash can include (1) determining a light-pulse frequency that mimics a wing flash for a target winged insect species; and (2) controlling a light source to emit light at the light-pulse frequency. Devices for attracting insects by simulating wing flash are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9936694
Abstract: This invention describes novel food bait compositions that can be used alone or in combination with blends of attractive compounds to induce attraction and feeding by mice and rats. Said compositions and blends can be used to induce mice and rats to be captured in traps or to approach and remain in a location where they will be exposed to a rodenticide.

  • Patent number: 7712247
Abstract: Disclosed are methods for affecting movement of an insect with respect to a specified location. One generates an electromagnetic field adjacent the location and exposes the insect to the field. Preferably the insect is a crawling insect such as a German cockroach, earwig, firebrat, or a silverfish. To attract insects, the strength of the field is not so high as to be repulsive to the insect, yet sufficiently strong as to be attractive. Such field generators are preferably incorporated into insect traps and insect bait stations.

  • Publication number: 20080134568
Abstract: This invention relates to novel apparatus and methods which use specific wavelengths of visible light, or combinations of specific wavelengths of visible light with specific wavelengths of ultra-violet light, to manipulate the behavior of stored product insect pests, including moths and Indian meal moths. The apparatus for attracting stored product insect pests, including (but not limited to) the Indian meal moth, Plodia interpunctella, the Mediterranean flour moth, Ephestia kuhniella, the tobacco moth, Ephestia elutella, the almond moth, Cadra cautella, and the raisin moth, Cadra figulielella, consists of a light source placed in a trap.
