  • Patent number: 5365032
Abstract: A method of cutting by means of laser radiation wherein, particularly in order to increase the cutting efficiency in connection with composite materials, the laser radiation focused along a line extending transversely to the direction of radiation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 25, 1993
Date of Patent: November 15, 1994
Assignee: Optec Gesellschaft fur optische Technik mbH
Inventors: Gerhard J. Muller, Gerfried Giebel
  • Patent number: 4427889
Abstract: Method and apparatus for molecular spectroscopy, particularly for the determination of products of metabolism. The absorption of infrared radiation by a specimen (2) which contains the substance to be determined is measured. The absorption is measured simultaneously at two different wavelengths (.lambda..sub.1, .lambda..sub.2), the first wavelength (.lambda..sub.1) being so selected that upon changes in concentration of the substance to be determined in the specimen (2) only a negligibly small change, if any, of the radiation absorption takes place, while the second wavelength (.lambda..sub.2) lies in the region of a substance-specific absorption band of the substance to be determined. After measurement of the radiation intensities (I.sub.1 and I.sub.2) at the two wavelengths (.lambda..sub.1, .lambda..sub.2) the signal is standardized by formation of the quotient (I.sub.2 /I.sub.1).
