  • Patent number: 8642518
Abstract: In a method for recovering lubricant or lubricant concentrate from a used mixture containing lubricant, the mixture containing lubricant and which is substantially dewatered is subjected to short path distillation at a temperature of at least 150° C. and a pressure of less than 1.5 mbar, in order to obtain a lubricant concentrate which can be recycled into cooling lubricants and which is free of very finely wear debris, metal soaps and polymers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 4, 2009
Date of Patent: February 4, 2014
Assignee: Hydro Aluminum Rolled Products GmbH

  • Publication number: 20030190281
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a stable aluminium hydroxide gel on the basis of the sodium aluminate lye which is obtained during the production of Al2O3 according to the BAYER method. The caustic mol ratio (Na2Ofree/Al2O3) of the lye containing aluminate is adjusted to smaller than 1.6. The lye is treated with carboxylic acid anhydride, whereby the aluminium hydroxide gel is precipitated at a temperature of below approximately 40° C., whereby the pH value ranges from 8 to 12. The precipitation product and the lye are separated from one another. The precipitation product is washed and dried, whereby the amorphous structure is obtained.

  • Patent number: 5254224
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for increasing the molar ratio of aluminum to chlorine in a polyaluminum chloride solution by the electrochemical dissolving of aluminum, including contacting a polyaluminum chloride solution having a molar ratio of aluminum to chlorine of equal to or greater than 0.5 with a galvanic element. The galvanic element includes metallic aluminum and an electrochemically more noble metal. Contact is maintained until the aluminum to chlorine ratio is increased to the desired level.

  • Patent number: 4668486
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method for removing organic substances from aluminate liquors of the Bayer process. The method comprises the steps of contacting the liquor with an oxygen containing gas under elevated pressure in the presence of metallic ions acting as a catalyst to oxidize the organic substances, precipitating the metallic ions jointly with aluminum hydroxide, separating the precipitate from the oxidized liquor and recycling the precipitated aluminum hydroxide containing the metallic ions into the oxidation step as a catalyst carrier.

  • Patent number: 4568192
Abstract: Disclosed is a high temperature magnetic stirrer including a permanent magnet positioned underneath a frame supported platform. The magnet is positioned to be rotatable in a plane parallel to the platform. A spiral shaped heating element mounted to the frame is positioned above the platform and centered above the rotatable magnet. The spiral has a diameter sufficient to enclose a portion of a crucible. Means are provided to supply the heating element with electricity, and additional means are secured to the frame to rotate the magnet.
