C. of about 50 to 4000 mPa.s, wherein the organic polyisocyanate has aliphatically and/or cycloaliphatically bound isocyanate groups and an isocyanate functionality of at least 3, optionally in combination with other organic polyisocyanates containing aliphatically and/or cycloaliphatically bound isocyanate groups and having an isocyanate functionality of 2, provided that the average functionality is at least 2.2.The present invention is also directed to the ready for use aqueous emulsion paints prepared by the above process.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the production of oligomeric polyisocyanates by the dimerization or trimerization of a portion of the isocyanate groups in organic polyisocyanates in the presence of tertiary phosphines or in the presence of a peralkylated phosphorus acid triamides as catalyst, followed by termination of the dimerization and/or trimerization reaction at the required degree of oligomerization by the addition of a catalyst poison, characterized in that a sulfonyl isocyanate is used as the catalyst poison.The present invention also relates to the use of the oligomeric polyisocyanates obtained by this process, optionally in admixture with unreacted starting polyisocyanate or optionally blocked by blocking agents for isocyanate groups, as the polyisocyanate component in the production of polyurethane plastics.

    Abstract: This invention discloses mixtures for use as binders for solvent-free lacquers which are liquid at room temperature, can be prepared in the presence of moisture and have good light stability and resistance to weather.The mixtures contain:(a) at least one organic polyisocyanate which contains aliphatically bound isocyanate groups;(b) at least one polyhydroxyl compound with a molecular weight of 200 to 2000 which is free from ether groups; and(c) 0-40 percent by weight, based on the total mixture of monohydric and/or polyhydric alcohols with a molecular weight below 200;the components of the mixture being used in such quantities that the NCO/OH ratio is between 0.8:1 and 1.2:1.
