    Abstract: The production of high impact strength molding compositions obtained by thermal treatment of synthetic resin mixtures containing predominantly polyalkylene terephthalate, in the solid form, characterized in that the synthetic resin mixture containsA. 70-95% or 60-97% by weight of polyalkylene terephthalate andB. when A is 70-95%, 5-30% by weight of a conventional, elasticizing acrylate graft copolymer, a conventional .alpha.-olefin copolymer or a conventional polyether amide, or when A is 60-97%, 3-40% of a conventional polyether ester amide,and that the synthetic resin mixture is treated at temperatures of 15.degree.-60.degree.     Abstract: Block copolyester amides having improved properties are applied as thermoplastic adhesives to textiles. Their melting points are between 80.degree. and 135.degree. C. and the block copolyester amides are prepared by polycondensing:(A) 60 to 95% by weight of a block polyester having terminal hydroxy groups and consisting of at least 50 molar % of the acid proportion of terephthalic acid and 40 to 90 molar percent of an alcohol proportion of 1.4-butanediol and 60 to 10 molar percent of 1.6-hexanediol, wherein up to 10 molar percent referred to 1,6-hexanediol can be replaced by aliphatic diols with longer chains; and(B) 40 to 5% by weight of a block polyamide dicarboxylic acid having a mean molecular weight M.sub.n between 1,000 and 8,000 and obtained from omega-amino-carboxylic acids or lactams having 6 to 12 carbon atoms or their mixtures with aromatic or aliphatic dicarboxylic acids.

    Abstract: A process for condensing a linear polyalkylene terephthalate having a viscosity number of at least 60 cc/g in two stages, at an elevated temperature, in the solid phase, and in the presence of an alkanediol, comprises, in a first stage, treating the polyalkylene terephthalate in an inert gas stream at a reaction temperature 30.degree.-80.degree. C. below its melting point, with 0.2-3.5% by weight, based on the weight of the polyalkylene terephthalate, of an alkanediol whose boiling point under normal pressure is 20.degree.-70.degree. C. above the reaction temperature, wherein the amount of inert gas passed through per hour, measured under standard conditions, corresponds to 0.3 to 2 times the gross reactor volume; and, in a second stage, condensing the polyalkylene terephthalate in an inert gas stream at a temperature 5.degree.-25.degree. C. below its melting point, wherein the amount of inert gas passed through per hour, measured under standard conditions, corresponds to 2.

    Abstract: A process for the regeneration and further condensation of a linear polyalkylene terephthalate, which is inactive due to recondensation treatment in the solid phase, and which has a viscosity number of at least 60 cc/g, the process being conducted in two stages, at an elevated temperature, in the presence of an alkanediol, comprises, in a first stage, treating the inactive polyalkylene terephthalate at a reaction temperature of 30.degree.-80.degree. C. below its melting point, with 0.3-3.5% by weight, based on the weight of the polyalkylene terephthalate, of an alkanediol whose boiling point under normal pressure is 20.degree.-70.degree.     Abstract: High molecular weight linear polyesters advantageous for use as hot melt adhesives and powder coating agents, are prepared by a process for preparing a high-molecular weight, linear copolyester by condensing 40-85 molar percent of terephthalic acid optionally in the form of a dialkyl ester, half of which component can optionally be replaced by another dicarboxylic acid also optionally in the dialkyl ester form, and 60-15 molar percent of adipic acid, with an alkanediol of 2-6 carbon atoms in its carbon chain, at an elevated temperature in the presence of a conventional catalyst, in a first condenstation stage which is an interesterification or esterification stage and a second condenstation stage which is a polycondensation stage, whereby a copolyester melt is produce. The process comprises, before or during the first condensation stage, adding 0.005-01 molar percent, based on the total acid component, of a C.sub.6 - aryl or C.sub.

    Abstract: In a process for preparing high molecular weight poly-(ethylene terephthalate) in two stages, comprising, in the first stage, reacting a dialkyl ester of terephthalic acid with ethylene glycol in the presence of 35 to 290 ppm of manganese, in the form of a manganese-II salt effective as a catalyst, together with 6 to 95 ppm of cobalt, in the form of a cobalt-II salt effective as a catalyst, at a temperature of 170.degree. to 220.degree. C. to give a low molecular weight precondensate; then adding 45 to 140 ppm of phosphorus in the form of a phosphorus compound effective to minimize discoloration of the product poly-(ethylene terephthalate) due to said transesterification catalysts; and, in the second stage, effecting complete condensation of the precondensate thus obtained, in the presence of catalysts at a temperature of 270.degree.-290.degree. C.
