  • Publication number: 20090242469
Abstract: A filter assembly has an inlet for supplying a fluid to be cleaned and an outlet for returning cleaned fluid. A cloth filter is disposed between the inlet and the outlet. The filter has a web of filter cloth wound on a supply roll and guided along an effective filter area to a takeup roll for receiving clogged filter web. A motor is connected to the takeup roll for rotating the takeup roll and for transporting the filter cloth forward across the effective filter area. A switching device is connected to selectively energize the motor and to index the filter cloth forward by an amount less than a length of the effective filter area.

  • Publication number: 20070146150
Abstract: An enclosed space, such as a garage, has a carbon monoxide detector. If an elevated level in the concentration of carbon monoxide (CO) is detected, an automatic closure is forced to open. In the case of a garage, the automatic garage door motor is energized upon detecting an unsafe level of CO. The forced opening may be overridden if smoke or a fire is detected.

  • Patent number: 7097046
Abstract: A filter assembly for an aquarium has a self-cleaning filter. A fine mesh filter screen is disposed between an inlet and an outlet for filtering solid matter from the water that is pumped from the aquarium, through the filter, and back to the aquarium. When the filter screen is sufficiently loaded, or according to a set schedule, the solid matter is suctioned off the filter screen with a vacuum assembly. For that purpose, the water flow is first diverted, the filter screen is rotated, and the vacuum assembly is turned on. After the screen has been vacuumed, the vacuum assembly is once more turned off and the water flow is redirected to pass through the filter screen.

  • Publication number: 20030070404
Abstract: A glove box assembly is used for contamination-proof mail handling. Items of mail, after they are placed into the glove box cavity and the cavity is sealed, are opened and simultaneously examined for any suspiciously hazardous materials. Harmful exposure to chemicals and biological cultures can be substantially reduced if mail items, such as envelopes and small packages are opened in the mail handling cavity while it is hermetically sealed. The glove box assembly has a see-through lid which allows completely open inspection of all mail items as they are being opened. The cavity may be lighted and any type of mail processing device may be placed at ready inside the cavity.

  • Patent number: 5433843
Abstract: A marine aquarium or a marine holding system has a tank connected to a closed loop circulation system. The closed loop communicates with an open loop through an osmotic and hydrostatic pressure exchange. A dialysis apparatus for removing undesirable elements is commonly placed into the closed loop and the open loop system. A separate holding tank for a dialysate solution is provided in the open loop system. Canister filters for preparing the dialysate solution by removing unwanted particles and chemicals are tied into the system as well. Peristaltic pumps provide for precise, simultaneous dispensing of a dialysate and a contaminated solution to opposite sides of a semipermeable membrane. The open loop system is connected with a fresh water source, and it includes solenoids, digital times for scheduling events, float switches and time delay relays. The components are connected in such a way as to automatically remove waste products from the closed water loop system.
