  • Patent number: 6313557
Abstract: An electronic motor (1) of the electronic commutation type provided with a rotor (5) presenting a centre of rotation (C0) and a number of radial teeth (16) located along respective radial directrixes (K) passing through the centre of rotation (C0) and radially limited by a surface (35) presenting a bending centre (C1) located at any point along a radial directrixx (K) with the exception of a part (T1) included between said centre of rotation (C0) and the surface (35) itself excluding the centre of rotation (C0) and the internal surface (35).

  • Patent number: 5383428
Abstract: The system includes a direct-current voltage supply, an electric motor for rotating a movable pinion, and an electromagnetic operating device including a solenoid and an associated movable core. The core moves the pinion towards an operating position in which it can be coupled for rotation with a rotary member of the internal combustion engine. The connection between the electromagnetic operating device and the voltage supply is controlled by an electronic unit which measures the current flowing in the solenoid by means of a portion of the wire forming the solenoid, which portion is bent and preferably twisted, and acts as a resistive shunt.

  • Patent number: 5359306
Abstract: The device comprises two fixed contacts, a movable assembly coupled to the central portion of a movable contact the free ends of which can cooperate with the said fixed contacts, and a control electromagnet comprising a solenoid and a movable core displaceable from an initial rest position to a final position in which it strikes a stop element carrying with it the movable assembly so as to bring the end of the movable contact against the fixed contacts before reaching the final position. The movable contact can flex resiliently like a beam under the effect of its engagement with the fixed contacts. When the core strikes the stop element, the fixed contacts oscillate about their normal working positions.

  • Patent number: 5325827
Abstract: The system includes a direct-current voltage supply, an electric starter motor for rotating a movable pinion, and an electromagnetic operating device which, when it receives an excitation current, moves the pinion to couple it for rotation with a rotary member of the internal combustion engine. In operation, an electronic control unit cuts off the current supply to the electromagnetic operating device as soon as the speed of rotation of the engine shaft exceeds a predetermined threshold and the acceleration of the shaft is less than or equal to zero.

  • Patent number: 5256992
Abstract: An electrical switch, particularly for controlling the supply of current to the electric starter motor of an internal combustion engine, in which the movable device and/or its control device are formed in such a way that, in its operating position, the movable contact oscillates after it has struck the fixed contacts and assumes successive configurations in which its deformation or deflection always keeps the same sign.

  • Patent number: 5222401
Abstract: The starter includes a movable pinion and a control electromagnet. A transmission between the core of the electromagnet and the pinion includes a rocker lever. The lever has a shaped profile so that the initial loadless travel of the core is shorter than would be the case with a substantially straight lever, if other geometrical conditions remain the same.

  • Patent number: 5142924
Abstract: An electromagnetically-operated starter motor has a movable electrical contact constituted by a metal plate having, in one of its flat faces, a notch adapted to define an apical region which is subject to stresses within its plastic range. A vibration damper is thus created within the movable contact and eliminates problems resulting from resilient impacts between the contacts.

  • Patent number: 4825844
Abstract: The system comprisesa low-voltage electrical supply,an inductive voltage-increaser,a plurality of plugs, anddistribution means for allowing the selective supply of high voltage to the plugs through the voltage-increaser.The latter comprisesa low-voltage winding through which current flows each time a spark is prouduced in at least one plug, anda plurality of coils each of which is associated with a respective plug. Each coil includes first and second windings magnetically coupled together, the second winding being connected electrically to the plug. The distribution means are also adapted to connect the first winding of one or more of the coils selectively to the low voltage winding and to allow current to flow through the said windings to create the spark in the plugs connected to the said coils.

  • Patent number: 4801909
Abstract: An electromagnetic device for controlling the supply of current to an electric starter motor includes a pair of fixed contacts on a support for connection to a power supply and a starter motor, respectively. A movable contact which is adapted to engage both fixed contacts is carried by a movable core of an electromagnet so that upon energization of the electromagnet, the movable contact engages both fixed contacts to complete the circuit to the starter motor. A spring is provided for biassing the movable contact away from the fixed contacts upon de-energization of the electromagnet. A flexible braided conductor is permanently connected between the movable contact and one of the fixed contacts to provide an equipotential electrical connection therebetween.
