  • Patent number: 7205777
Abstract: A capacitive proximity switch for detecting the change in the capacitance relative to a setpoint capacitance by the approach or retreat of an object in the sensitive area of a proximity switch, especially for use in the door handle of a motor vehicle, provides reliable error detection and error suppression at a fundamentally high sensitivity of the capacitive proximity switch by utilizing an evaluation unit that evaluates a measured value of the change in capacitance over time and depending on the time behavior of the measured value activates changes the operating threshold from a first threshold (which can be caused by a false object coming into or out of the sensitive area of the proximity switch) to a higher second threshold which can be reached only at a relatively greater change in capacitance caused by a target object coming into or out of the sensitive area of the proximity switch.

  • Patent number: 6794768
Abstract: A device with a steering lock and an ignition starter switch which can be controlled by a handle in the presence of an identification transmitter is controlled by an ID transmitter which can be scanned by an ID receiver located in a vehicle. A control of the device includes a rotor which is constructed in part of magnetizable material. The rotor is connected to a handle in a rotationally fixed but axially mobile manner. In an axial starting position, the handle is blocked, but if the ID scanning is successful, an electromagnet is activated in order to move the rotor into an axial intermediate position. The handle can then be turned and the rotor is moved into an axial end position. The electromagnet is cut off, but a permanent magnet is activated to immobilize the motor.

  • Publication number: 20040012262
Abstract: The invention relates to a device comprising a steering lock(40) and an ignition switch (50). Said device is controlled by an ID transmitter which can be can be scanned by and ID receive located in the vehicle. The aim of the invention is to simplify the control means. In order to achieve this, a rotor is constructed, parts of the same consisting of magnetisable material (29). Said rotor is connected to a handle (10) in a rotationally fixed but axially mobile manner. In an axial starting position , (20.1) the handle (10) is blocked, but if the ID scanning is successful, an electromagnet (35) is activated in order to move the rotor into an axial intermediate position. The handle (10) can then be turned (14) and the rotor (35) is moved into an axial end position (20.3). The electromagnet (35) is cut off, but a permanent magnet (45) is activated to immobilise the rotor. The steering mechanism (44) is then released by means of the rotor output (27), and the handle (10) can be turned in a reverse manner.
