  • Patent number: 5676077
Abstract: A multi-needle chain stitch sewing machine with a thread thread severing system and method thereof for cutting needle threads between two isolated stitched patterns of a fabric. The multi-needle sewing machine includes a plurality of loopers and respective needles, a thread severing strip located in close proximity and transversely across each looper, and eccentric guides connected to the thread severing strip for extending the thread severing strip to cut the needle threads and for retracting the thread severing strip so that the thread severing strip does not contact the needle threads during the stitching operation.

  • Patent number: 5269238
Abstract: An electronically controlled multi-needle quilting machine including linking cylinder arranged between an eccentric integral with a rotating spindle and a lever, to drive in an oscillating motion a number of loopers which, in combination with a number of corresponding needles, perform stiching operations by double chain stitches on a layered material interposed between said members, said linking cylinder comprising a pneumatic cylinder controlled to change the extension of its rod during the various operational steps, whereby the link length is changed and the loopers may reach a position in which, by being provided with a blade they perform a cutting operation on thread of respective needle.

  • Patent number: 5005499
Abstract: A device for disabling and enabling one or more needles in a quilting machine, a multi-needle embroidery machine, or the like, is described. The device comprises a linear actuator (24) adapted to carry a needle (22) and to keep the latter, for a predetermined time, in a raised position relative to fabric (10) to be sewn. The device includes stitching yarn (44) return means (38) being actuated when needle (22) is disabled, in order to subject to a limited tension the portion of stitching yarn located between the disabled needle and the fabric to be sewn, to prevent the yarn from becoming tangled and from breaking.Furthermore, during the entire operating stage as mentioned above, the known yarn tensioning device (48) through which the stitching yarn is led before arriving at the needle, is disabled.

  • Patent number: 4501208
Abstract: In a quilting machine two or more series of stitches are applied to the product, the product to which stitches have already been applied being moved forward and/or backward, even over a considerable distance, while the exact superposition of the fabrics is maintained. One embodiment of the machine comprises cylindrical containers (10, 11), in which are disposed the rolls (8, 9) of fabric (2, 3) which are to be quilted. During the backward rotation the cloth is wound over the constant diameter of these containers and in this way the tension applied is also constant. In another embodiment, return or loose rollers (160, 170) are provided, which take up a portion of fabric (102, 103) already unwound. The process also permits continuous embroidery, even very complicated embroidery.
