  • Patent number: 5231018
Abstract: Metal oxides are extracted from coal fly ash by a bio-leading process. The ash is suspended in an aqueous saline solution having a pH within the range of from 5 to 8 and the suspension is incubated with a microorganism strain capable of growing in aqueous saline solution and binding to metal oxide, and the resulting agglomerates are separated.A new gram-positive bacterial strain designated GIN-1 and being a member of the genus Rhodococcus is described. It has been deposited under No. 40340 at the National Collections of Industrial and Marine Bacterial Ltd. (NCIMB) at Aberdeen, Scotland.GIN-1 is particularly suitable for the bioteching of metal oxides from coal fly ash.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 8, 1991
Date of Patent: July 27, 1993
Assignee: The Israel Electric Corporation, Ltd.

  • Patent number: 5104931
Abstract: A single-step procedure for the immobilization of antibodies, comprising reacting a purified antibody with buffered periodate in an amount sufficient to produce aldehyde groups in the presence of a polymer carrier material which has been modified with adipic acid dihydrazide is disclosed. The present invention provides dramatic improvements in activity. and yield of immobilized antibody over the prior multi-step procedure employing separate oxidation and immobilization steps.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 22, 1990
Date of Patent: April 14, 1992
    Assignee: Rohm GmbH Chemische Fabrik
Inventors: Gideon Fleminger, Tamar Wolf, Eran Hadas
  • Patent number: 4948836
Abstract: Antibodies which are immobilized and covalently bound to a matrix polymer by means of a modification in a carbohydrate region of the antibodies; wherein the binding of the antibodies is effected by condensing at least one aldehyde group in an oxidized carbohydrate region and at least one epoxide function of an epoxy-group-containing matrix polymer, said condensation being conducted in the presence of a bifunctional reagent which has, on one end position of a spacer unit having at least three members, an amino group capable of condensing with the aldehyde group, and which has on the other end position a group which reacts covalently with the epoxide function.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 14, 1988
Date of Patent: August 14, 1990
    Assignee: Roehm GmbH Chemische Fabrik
Inventors: Beka Solomon, Eran Hadas, Gideon Fleminger
