  • Publication number: 20210106319
Abstract: A cardiac closure device, apparatus and delivery tool are herein provided, wherein the apparatus includes an implantable cardiac closure device having a stretched state and a resting state, the closure device being configured for facilitating closure of a hole made through tissue of a myocardial wall of a patient; and a delivery tool comprising: a closure-device holder, at a distal portion of the delivery tool, being configured to hold the closure device, the closure-device holder being moveable proximally and distally along a longitudinal axis of the delivery tool; and one or more closure-device-shape-adjusting elements coupled to the closure-device holder, the one or more closure-device-shape-adjusting elements each being shaped so as to define a coupling for removably coupling the closure device to the one or more closure-device-shape-adjusting elements, the one or more closure-device-shape-adjusting elements being configured to adjust a shape of the closure device by being moveable radially inwardly towar

  • Patent number: 9282954
Abstract: A surgical closure device (100) includes (a) a continuous loop (110), which defines an opening (112) therethrough, and which is configured to assume at least an open shape and a closed shape, and (b) four or more tissue anchors (130), coupled to the loop (110). An area of the opening (112) when the loop (110) assumes the closed shape is less than 80% of the area of the opening (112) when the loop (110) assumes the open shape. The loop (110) is configured such that, as the loop (110) transitions from the open shape to the closed shape, all of the anchors (130) move in generally radial directions, and do not move in generally circumferential directions; and a first set of two or more of the anchors (130A) move on average a first distance, and a second set of two or more of the anchors (130B) move on average a second distance that is between 40% and 80% of the first distance.

  • Publication number: 20150289860
Abstract: The invention discloses a delivery device for use in surgery on an organ in a living body. The delivery device is characterized by a proximal and a distal end inter-connected by a main longitudinal axis, the distal end comprising: (a) at least one anchoring device, comprising at least one tissue anchor; and (b) at least one pivoting support in communication with the anchoring device. The anchoring device can pivot freely around the pivoting support independent of the orientation of the pivoting support with respect to the organ, such that the anchoring device can be oriented substantially parallel to and conform to the surface of the organ with which the anchoring device comes into contact.

  • Publication number: 20140039549
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a tissue closure device and in particular to a tissue closure device having a plurality of configurations providing for delivery and use in minimally invasive procedures. A tissue closure device (100) is provided from shape memory or super-elastic materials for closing a tissue site opening (50), the device comprising a plurality of tissue anchors (130) extending from a closed loop surface (110) wherein the plane of said tissue anchors is provided at an angle essentially perpendicular with respect to the plane of said closed loop surface; a. wherein said plurality of tissue anchors (130) comprise a proximal end (130p) and a distal end (130d); said distal end provided for anchoring said device onto tissue (50); and wherein said proximal end (130p) is fluid with and extends from said closed loop surface (110); and b.

  • Patent number: 8579806
Abstract: A retraction device adapted to retract tissue is provided, comprising at least one pair of opposed retraction members, with each retraction member being capable of operably engaging the tissue to be retracted. A drive mechanism is operably engaged with at least one of each pair of retraction members for separating one of each pair of retraction members from the other to retract the tissue. A measuring device is operably engaged with at least one of the drive mechanism and one of each pair of retraction members, for determining and/or controlling a magnitude and/or rate of a force and/or strain imparted to the tissue by the drive mechanism via the retraction members as the tissue is being retracted. Associated devices and methods are also provided.
