    Abstract: An oligonucleotide that can be used for detecting the presence of a target DNA or RNA in a sample, a method for detecting a target DNA or RNA by using the oligonucleotide, and a kit comprising the oligonucleotide are provided. The oligonucleotide comprises a nucleoside labeled with a fluorophore and at least one neighboring nucleoside positioned next to the fluorophore-labeled nucleoside, the nucleobase of the neighboring nucleoside being thymine or cytosine.
