Publication number: 20230019180Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for predicting cybersecurity vulnerabilities automatically in IT assets/targets based on known vulnerabilities of various available technologies/products. This is accomplished by loading and linking one or more ontologies in a graph database containing vulnerability information about the technologies. The assets/targets preferably belong to a bug-bounty program. An optional discovery tool maps the attack surface of each target. A profiler collects the various technologies or traits used by the target and links them to the target. Then the graph database is queried to predict the cybersecurity vulnerabilities associated with the traits and consequently with the targets. The system is preferably implemented with a service-oriented architecture (SOA) so feedback/predictions can be provided to the user in near/real-time.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 8, 2021Publication date: January 19, 2023Inventors: Gilein de Nijs, Michael Katsevman, Damien Michael Radford, Casey John Ellis

Publication number: 20220277009Abstract: A database system processes database queries that process external tables representing data obtained from an external systems. The database system generates an execution plan to execute the database query. The database system sends a request for data of the external table to an external system. The request provides connection information to the external system. The external system sends a request to connect to the database system and provides data of the external table as a data stream. If the database system reaches an operator that processes the data of the external table, the database system waits for data from the external system. The database system processes the database query using the data of the data stream. The database system provides the result of the database query to a requestor, for example, a client device.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 28, 2022Publication date: September 1, 2022Inventors: Gilein DE NIJS, Willemina KONYNENBERG

Patent number: 8972597Abstract: A summary of a data stream, comprising a plurality of segments, is generated. A data stream, comprising a plurality of segments, is transmitted to a plurality of users (step 300). Ratings in respect of at least one of the plurality of segments of the data stream are collected from a plurality of users (step 306). This enables a summary of the data stream to be generated on the basis of the collected ratings (step 308).Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2008Date of Patent: March 3, 2015Assignee: Koninklijke Philips N.V.Inventors: Jozef Pieter Van Gassel, Gilein De Nijs, Alexander Sinitsyn

Patent number: 8819749Abstract: A method for synchronizing a plurality of components of a broadcast media stream, includes buffering streams of data samples for a plurality of components of a broadcast media stream and buffering a plurality of information packets. The stream of data samples for each of the plurality of components includes relative timing information, each information packet including timing information indicating a relationship between the relative timing information in the components and an absolute time. The method further includes performing a look-ahead action on the buffered information packets to extract timing information for each of the plurality of components; and using the extracted timing information and relative timing information to synchronize the plurality of components.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2009Date of Patent: August 26, 2014Assignee: Koninklijke Philips B.V.Inventors: Gilein De Nijs, Jozef Pieter Van Gassel

Patent number: 8438236Abstract: A device and a method for transmitting notification messages (165) and a corresponding device and method for receiving notification messages. A transmitting device (100) receives a filter definition (135) defining a filter type for use in filtering of the notification messages. The filter definition is transmitted to a terminal (160) via a broadcast installation (150). The terminal configures a filter based upon the filter definition. When a 5 notification is to be sent notification input data (145) is received and filter elements (175) are determined. The filter elements correspond to parameters derived from the filter definition. The value of the parameters correspond to the notification input data. The notification messages comprising the filter elements are generated and sent to the terminal. The terminal filters the notification messages using the filter, where the filtering is based upon the filter 10 elements.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2008Date of Patent: May 7, 2013Assignee: TP Vision Holding B.V.Inventors: Jozef Pieter Van Gassel, Gilein De Nijs, Vojkan Mihajlovic

Patent number: 8151299Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of changing between a plurality N of distinct services, e.g. television channels, receivable on a receiving unit, such as a mobile phone/cellular phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a handheld television unit, or similar devices. The receiving unit is adapted to receive the plurality of services in a time slicing mode with services being arranged in a certain time slice sequence. The receiving unit is capable of receiving a first service (S1). When “zapping” from the first service to a second service, the second service (S4) being chosen is the currently next service in time within the time slice sequence so as to minimize the time (t2) between service changes. Thereby, a fast method of changing between services is provided in a simplified manner, the speed of change reaching the theoretical maximum when using time slicing.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2007Date of Patent: April 3, 2012Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Jozef Pieter Van Gassel, Gang Wang, Fangzhong Shen, Gilein De Nijs, Steven Broeils Luitjens, Jian Zhang, Jiawen Tu, Hua Jiang

Patent number: 8132030Abstract: A device and a method for managing power consumption of a plurality of data processing units. A scheduler (280) schedules a first process step for a first data processing unit (200) consuming a high power within a first deadline and a second process step for a second data processing unit (240) also consuming a high power within a second deadline. The scheduler further schedules the first process step and the second process step such that the two process steps do not occur concurrently thereby reducing the peak power draw from a power supply while preserving deadlines. This is particularly beneficial in battery-operated equipment, such as portable electronic multimedia devices, since peak power drain has been found to be an important factor in determining the battery capacity.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2007Date of Patent: March 6, 2012Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Siarhei Yermalayeu, Ozcan Mesut, Steven Broeils Luitjens, Jozef Pieter Van Gassel, Artur Tadeusz Burchard, Gilein De Nijs

Publication number: 20110213812Abstract: Disclosed are methods and devices for providing metadata (120) to be stored. Periods may be indicated by a point at which the metadata becomes valid (150) and a second point at which the metadata becomes invalid (160). The metadata may be encoded, by an encoder (500) in a file format compatible with or based upon an ISO Base Media File format (510). Similarly, the indication of the point at which the metadata becomes valid and the indication of the second point at which the metadata becomes invalid may also be encoded in the file format compatible with or based upon the ISO Base Media File format. This may be performed by a transmitter (400) or by a receiver (470). A plurality of metadata items may also be stored in the file format in a single location providing efficient storage and retrieval.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 8, 2008Publication date: September 1, 2011Applicant: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS ELECTRONICS N.V.Inventor: Gilein De Nijs

Publication number: 20100229204Abstract: Broadcast data is transmitted in first time slices. Event data is transmitted in second time slices, wherein a predetermined number n?1 of consecutive second time slices is redundant. Therefore a receiver receiving such a broadcast need only receive one of n slices of event data. Therefore when the receiver is in standby mode, it need only be activated to receive 1 in n of second time slices to receive event data. Therefore the receiver is deactivated for a longer period, thus saving power consumption.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 16, 2007Publication date: September 9, 2010Applicant: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS ELECTRONICS N.V.Inventors: Gilein De Nijs, Steven Broeils Luitjens, Jozef Pieter Van Gassel
