  • Publication number: 20070251909
Abstract: A flip-top cap is provided in which an upper portion is secured to a lower portion by means of a living hinge. An outer skirt forms a lever with an integral radial connecting wall on a side of the cap opposite the living hinge. The outer skirt and the radial connecting wall may be elastically deformed to permit a detent on the upper portion of the cap to escape a recess on the outer skirt for opening the cap. The radial connecting wall is lowered and thinned with respect to heretofore known designs, facilitating opening of the cap. Integral ribs are provided on the base and flip-top portions to prevent twisting and/or lateral movement of the upper portion that could allow for inadvertent opening of the cap.

  • Patent number: 6116441
Abstract: A dual tamper evident closure for sealing the neck portion of a container. The closure which is preferably made of one single piece of plastic material, has a body with a skirt sized and shaped to fit onto and be screwed or otherwise detachably fixed to the neck portion. The body also has a top surface with an opening in registry with the outlet of the neck portion. The closure also has a cap that is connected to the closure body by a hinge and is sized and shaped to cover the opening of the body and thus to close the outlet of the neck portion when folded down in a closed position. A tamper evident band in the form of a ring is connected by frangible bridges to the lower edge of the skirt of the body. This band is provided with hooks designed to cooperate with an annular bead projecting from the neck portion in order to rigidly retain the body onto the neck portion. A tear tab integrally projects from the peripheral edge of the closure cap in a position that is opposite to the hinge.

  • Patent number: 5860543
Abstract: The closure cap for sealing a container has an inner skirt shaped and sized to fit externally and to be secured onto the neck of the container. The cap also has an outer skirt projecting from the inner skirt. This outer skirt extends over the inner skirt at a given distance from same, thereby defining a gap there between. The outer skirt is made of a material that is resiliently flexible and can be deformed when an external pressure is applied onto its external surface. The cap further has a foldable cover shaped and sized to close the neck of the container. This cover has a peripheral edge attached to the outer skirt by a hinge. A snap having one part integral to the upper portion of the other skirt and another part integral to the cover is provided for releasably locking the cover in a closed position when it is folded down over the neck of the container.

  • Patent number: 5413235
Abstract: The closure comprises a cap portion and a ring portion. The cap portion has a top wall and an annular skirt. The ring portion comprising an upper ring, a lower ring and a plurality of inwardly oriented wedges positioned between the upper and lower ring. The ring portion is connected to the lower edge of the skirt so as to be easily breakable. The plurality of inwardly oriented wedges are circumferentially distributed and spaced apart from each other between the upper and lower ring. Each wedge has an upper and lower edge connected along a thin folding lines to the lower and upper ring. Each wedge also has an inwardly and upwardly projecting apex positioned and sized to fit under the outwardly extending flange of the threaded neck portion of the container when the cap portion of the closure is fully screwed onto the threaded neck portion.
