  • Patent number: 9475166
Abstract: A method for cutting-out a multi-layer ophthalmic lens (100) following a desired contour (C3), includes: a step of pre-blanking the ophthalmic lens (100) using a preliminary tool (210; 223), according to a preliminary contour (C1, C1?); a step of blanking the ophthalmic lens (100) using a blanking wheel (210), following a blanking contour (C2, C3); and a step of finishing the ophthalmic lens (100) using a finishing tool (212). According to the invention, the preliminary contour (C1, C1?) is larger than the desired contour (C3), and the blanking wheel (210) used has a granulometry of between 0.1 and 0.5 mm and is controlled in relation to the ophthalmic lens (100) so as to apply a radial force of between 0.1 and 5 N to the ophthalmic lens (100) during the blanking step.

Assignee: ESSILOR INTERNATIONAL (COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'OPTIQUE)
Inventors: Muriel Godeau, Aude Lapprand, Cedric Lemaire, Christian Massart, Gilles Massey, Sebastien Pinault, Catherine Roussel, Montserrat Burgos

  • Patent number: 6929368
Abstract: The method comprises: a) placing in contact at least one principal surface of the colourless articles of the set with a solution of a fluorescent material for a sufficient time to allow penetration of the fluorescent material under the principal surface of the article; b) irradiation of the impregnated articles by means of radiation which activates the fluorescence of the fluorescent material; and c) selection of the articles in the set into two sub-sets of which the first is composed of those articles of the set which show a homogeneous fluorescence of their principal surfaces under irradiation and the second is composed of those articles of the set which show a non-homogeneous fluorescence of their principal surfaces under irradiation. Application: to opthalmic lenses.

  • Publication number: 20030075814
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for obtaining an ophthalmic lens comprising a surface utility microstructure, in particular antiglare. The method for obtaining an ophthalmic lens comprising a surface utility microstructure consists in a step for transferring the microstructure into the lens surface from a mould whereof the internal surface bears the microstructure and has a sight correcting geometric design, the microstructure being initially determined by an interferential process. The invention is useful for making ophthalmic lenses.
