  • Patent number: 4318872
Abstract: An absorber intercooler having a heat exchanger formed integrally therein. The absorber intercooler includes a cylindrical outer casing having a tube bundle disposed longitudinally therein. Inlet and outlet ports are provided in the cylindrical casing to allow for the flow of refrigerant around the tube bundle. Upper and lower end plates, having a plurality of openings therein, seal the upper and lower ends of the bundle. A liquid inlet pipe provides a flow of liquid absorbent through the upper end plate into the tube bundle. A vapor inlet pipe provides a flow of vapor into the bottom of the intercooler, and the vapor flows through a central opening in the lower end plate into a centrally disposed vapor flow pipe. The vapor flows upwardly therein through the upper end plate. A cap is provided on the upper end of the vapor flow pipe to prevent liquid absorbent from flowing down into the pipe, and also provides for an even radial distribution of the vapors at the cap.

  • Patent number: 4245474
Abstract: A thermodynamic system for generating mechanical energy comprises a source of high-temperature and high-pressure fluid and a source of low-temperature and low-pressure fluid. Two coupled rotary elements form, respectively, a motor with an increasing volume chamber where the high-temperature, high pressure fluid expands to generate mechanical energy, and a compressor in which cold fluid is compressed. Two further elements with variable volume chambers are cyclically placed in communication with high-temperature source for the transfer of the fluid from the compressor towards said source and for the transfer of fluid from the source to the motor.

  • Patent number: 4163723
Abstract: A continuously operated liquid-solids separator for separating a powdered resin material suspended in water forming a slurry by permitting the resin, which is of a lower specific gravity than the water, to float or be impelled upwardly within a separator vessel or upright tank from which it is withdrawn through an outlet orifice as a thickened slurry.
