Abstract: The present invention relates a to a method for washing laundry in a laundry washing machine comprising a washing tub external to a rotatable washing drum suited to receive laundry; the method comprises loading laundry into the washing drum and a laundry wetting phase for this laundry. The wetting phase comprises the steps of: —filling the washing tub with a first quantity of clean water at least equal to the quantity of water necessary to wet the loaded laundry completely, so as to obtain the complete wetting of the loaded laundry; —if a quantity of free water is present in the washing tub, externally to the laundry, draining from the washing tub this quantity of free water; —adding a given quantity of detergent to the loaded laundry.

Abstract: A washing machine (1), is operable in a recirculation washing mode, wherein a filter clogging state of a washing liquid filter (13) of a recirculation unit is monitored. If a critical filter clogging state is detected, the recirculation washing mode is deactivated and substituted by a non-recirculation washing mode.

Abstract: A controller is associated with the detergent dispenser of a washing machine, such as a clothes washing machine or a combined clothes washing and drying machine. The controller selectively controls the addition of various detergents and rinsing aids into the machine's tub. The corresponding control position is signalled by a plurality of micro-switches (17, 18, 19, 20) that are actuated by a rotating compartment selector (15) of the dispenser. The selector selectively establishes communication between the cold or hot water supply and each one of the compartments of said dispenser. The micro-switches (17, 18, 19, 20) can be switched on or off, along with a corresponding operational component part (42, 43, 44, 45) of the machine, by the rotating compartment selector means (15).

Abstract: A control apparatus for a laundry washing and/or drying machine which is adapted to identify the type of fabrics to be laundered or dried and to automatically select the most suitable program cycle for the laundering or drying of the laundry. The apparatus includes a digital counter (10) and a discharge element (2) connected in parallel to sensors (5, 6) for measuring the electrostatic charge of the laundry produced during rotation of the drum. The discharge element produces a sudden discharge of the electrostatic charge accumulated in the course of different periods of time, the lengths of which depend on the type of fabrics to be laundered or dried.

Abstract: A laundry washing machine includes a washing tub, a washing drum for containing laundry to be washed, a collector for collecting washing liquid, and a recirculation pump connected to the collector and to the tub for recirculating the washing liquid from the collector to the tub and to spray it onto the laundry. The collector has therein at least one heating element and a thermostatic sensor for heating the washing liquid and for thermostatically controlling the temperature thereof, respectively. Level sensors and controls are provided for carrying out "intense" and "gentle" laundering programs for washing the laundry in a conventional manner, and with further sensors and controls for carrying out "intense" laundering programs at reduced filling levels of the washing liquid within the tub by repeatedly recirculating the liquid to the tub.
