  • Publication number: 20070147316
Abstract: A device, method, and system for communicating with at least one target wireless device are disclosed. The method includes initiating, by an originating wireless device (104), a communication using a first communication service with a target wireless device (106). The originating wireless device (104) determines that the target wireless device (106) is unavailable for the communication with the originating wireless device. In response to this determination, the originating wireless device (104) communicates with the target wireless device (106) by at initiating a communication using the second communication service with the second multi-mode wireless device (106); transmitting a voicemail message associated with the second multi-mode wireless (106) device using the second communication service; or transmitting a voice message using the first communication service, wherein the voice message is stored locally on the target wireless device (106).

  • Publication number: 20070140205
Abstract: A system (20) and method (50) of establishing a rapid push-to-send data exchange in a multi-wireless network environment can include a first wireless network (24 and 26) having a fast network channel to exchange an Internet Protocol (IP) address or other data, a second wireless network (23 and 27) operatively coupled to the first wireless network having a high bandwidth data channel to exchange data using the IP address in a wireless peer to peer data transfer, and a communication protocol. The first wireless network can be an iDEN network and the second wireless network can be a CDMA network. The communication protocol can relinquish (66) communication using the first wireless network once a dedicated data channel on the second wireless network is established. The communication protocol can also simultaneously transfer (56) voice traffic on the first network when the first network is exchanging the IP address.

  • Publication number: 20070135128
Abstract: A method (400) and system (300) of indicating receipt of a call from a caller on a shared home network can include extracting (402) information from the calling party or the calling party's network indicating an originating network, sending (406) information of the originating network to a called party, and indicating (410) if the originating network belongs to the called party's shared home network. The indication can be an icon (11) or other visual indication on a mobile subscriber unit's user interface (13), or by sharing v-card or other user identification information between the calling party and the called party or by sending or providing an audible indication to the called party. The indication can be done before enabling the ability of the called party to answer a call. The step of extracting can optionally include extracting (404) information from billing information to indicate the originating network.

  • Publication number: 20070132636
Abstract: A multi-receiver satellite positioning system (SPS) wireless device (101) and system (100) or method (200) can include a plurality of SPS receivers co-located with each other, and a processor (114). The processor can be coupled to a first SPS receiver (102) and at least a second SPS receiver (104). The processor can be programmed to select (202) a measurement from the first SPS receiver or from at least the second SPS receiver having a desired characteristic, and use (212) the calculated measurement selected for having the desired characteristic for a predetermined application. For example, the processor can select the measurement by comparing (206) a possible error in position (EPE) reported by the first SPS receiver with a possible error in position reported by the at least second SPS receiver and selecting the measurement with the least amount of EPE when accuracy is a desired characteristic.

  • Publication number: 20070117588
Abstract: A mobile station (110) that includes a first network adapter (210) configured to communicate over a first communications network (120) and a second network adapter (220) configured to communicate over a second communications network (130). The mobile station also includes a multimodal processing module (250) that generates a busy notification in response to receiving a call via the second network adapter while the mobile station is engaged in a first call via the first network adapter. The busy notification can be automatically generated by the multimodal processing module in response to the second call being received, or generated in response to receiving a user input entered in response to the second call has been received.

  • Publication number: 20070049312
Abstract: A system (20) of establishing a rapid PTT call setup in a multi-wireless network environment, can include a first wireless network (24 and 26) such as an iDEN network optimized for rapid push-to-talk call setups in typically less than one second and a second wireless network (23 and 27) such as a CDMA wireless network operatively coupled to the first wireless network. The system can further include a communication protocol among an originating mobile subscriber unit (22), a target mobile subscriber unit (28), the first wireless network, and the second wireless network, where the first wireless network and the second wireless network receive a request for a PTT session and the PTT session is set up on the second wireless network using the first wireless network. The system can further include a PTT server (25) operatively coupled to the first wireless network and the second wireless network.

  • Publication number: 20060179160
Abstract: An apparatus (102a) for causing an orchestrated rendering of pre-selected data content using a plurality of communications devices (102b-e) is provided. The apparatus includes a signal transmitting circuit (202) for transmitting a performance signal to at least one of the plurality of communications devices, the performance signal including a synchronization instruction. The apparatus additionally includes a synchronization module (208) communicatively connected to the transmitting circuit for generating the synchronization instruction. The synchronization instruction is based upon the pre-selected data content and causes the at least one communications device to perform a designated portion of the data content at a designated time during a rendering of the pre-selected data content.
