  • Patent number: 5348635
Abstract: A series of oligomeric adducts of diols and diepoxides are disclosed which are precursors of amine resins for use in electrodeposition coatings. The adducts are epoxide-alcohol addition products of a polyaromatic and/or a mono-aromatic diol and a polyaromatic bis-glycidyl ether, and/or a monoaromatic bis-glycidyl ether and/or an alkoxy arylene bis-glycidyl ether, thioether or amine. The coatings which include amine resin, cross linking agent, grind resin and pigment exhibit excellent corrosion resistance.

  • Patent number: 5147927
Abstract: A primerless, one-component, moisture-curable polyurethane-based adhesive composition useful for affixing glass panels directly to electrocoat painted metal substrates comprises a polyurethane base polymer containing an electrocoat adhesion promoter. The sealant composition has fast cure times at ambient temperatures and forms a strong bond directly to electrocoat painted metal substrates without the need for a sealant primer.

  • Patent number: 4818792
Abstract: A high solids, stable, nonaqueous dispersion, comprising a low Tg copolymer, having a Tg between about -10.degree. C. and about 30.degree. C., particularly adapted for use as a clear coat automotive finish. The copolymer is the copolymerization product of monomers whose Tg is above about 50.degree. C., polar monomers whose Tg is up to about 15.degree. C. and .alpha., .beta. ethylenically unsaturated stabilizer copolymers. The stabilizer copolymers are formed from .alpha., .beta. ethylenically unsaturated monomers and at least one oxirane containing compound and have a molecular weight of about 2,000 to about 25,000, are soluble in aliphatic solvents and have a Tg of about -60.degree. C. to about 0.degree. C. These nonaqueous dispersions result in coatings having high % solids, ease of application, minimal sagging and good gloss and DOI. They are preferably made by copolymerizing ethylenically unsaturated monomers with about 0.

  • Patent number: 4705839
Abstract: The present invention discloses a nonaqueous dispersion of urethane copolymers dispersed in a solvent which is less polar than the urethane copolymer segment wherein the urethane copolymers are the reaction products of a stabilizer, an aliphatic polyol and diisocyanates. Also disclosed is a method for making the nonaqueous polyurethane dispersions.
