  • Patent number: 5305560
Abstract: Splices of endless abrasive belts and cones can be formed without emission of organic volatiles by employing as the splicing adhesive an aqueous adhesive dispersion that is a blend of a polyurethane and a polyisocyanate crosslinking agent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 13, 1993
Date of Patent: April 26, 1994
Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company
    Inventor: Glenn E. Roelofs
  • Patent number: 5256227
Abstract: Splices of endless abrasive belts and cones can be formed without emission of organic volatiles by employing as the splicing adhesive an aqueous adhesive dispersion that is a blend of a polyurethane and a polyisocyanate crosslinking agent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 9, 1991
Date of Patent: October 26, 1993
Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company
    Inventor: Glenn E. Roelofs
  • Patent number: 4202139
Abstract: A flexible, hand-held sanding pad comprises a conformable, self-supporting pad having one major surface capable of providing temporary adhesive attachment for a sheet of pressure-sensitive adhesive-coated abrasive material and a handle means for maintaining the pad in contact with the hand of the user during use.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 6, 1978
Date of Patent: May 13, 1980
Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company
Inventors: In S. Hong, Glenn E. Roelofs
  • Patent number: 4091150
Abstract: A splice of abutted ends of sheet material and method of making the same employs a splicing tape formed of an adhesively coated support film which comprises a biaxially oriented, heat-set, coextruded laminate formed from a layer of a crystalline polyester material and a layer of less crystalline polyester material, with the thermosetting adhesive coating the surface of the latter layer. The splicing tape is applied with sufficient heat and pressure to cause intimate contact of the thermosetting adhesive with the abutted ends being spliced.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 7, 1976
Date of Patent: May 23, 1978
Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company
    Inventor: Glenn E. Roelofs
  • Patent number: 4011358
Abstract: Coated sheet material having a support film which comprises a biaxially oriented, heat-set coextruded laminate formed from two or more polyester polymers, one layer of the laminate being highly crystalline and the coated layer being tough and non-crystalline. Coatings which normally adhere poorly to a biaxially oriented heat-set highly crystalline monofilm adhere firmly to the laminate. Coated sheet products include pressure-sensitive adhesive tape, lithographic printing plates, splicing tapes, and coated abrasives.
