  • Patent number: 8284546
Abstract: A portable computer is provided that has a housing. A removable battery may provide power to the portable computer. A connector on the battery may mate with a corresponding battery connector in the portable computer housing. The battery connector may be mounted in the portable computer housing a floating arrangement. This allows the position of the connector to move slightly to accommodate variations in the position of the battery. A cable may be used to route power between the battery and a main logic board. A cover may be used to hold the battery connector and cable to the housing of the portable computer without excessively impeding movement of the connector.

  • Patent number: 7963809
Abstract: A small form-factor, high performance connector is disclosed. This connector is intended for use with high bandwidth digital video, implementing differential digital signaling, as well as for high bandwidth analog video. The described connector system performs the function of the Digital Visual Interface (DVI) connector, but in a significantly smaller package. Signal integrity is maintained in the smaller form factor by the expedient assignment of signals to pins so that the pin above or below any signal is not used on that interface, thus reducing the chances for signal crosstalk. The pin shape and spacing are created to match pin lengths and minimize inductance while maintaining the proper impedance up to 2.5 GHz. This connector system also implements a tactile feedback mechanism to aid with cable plug insertion, and incorporates a keying mechanism to prevent reverse-plugging.

  • Patent number: 6462717
Abstract: An all-weather housing for outdoor microwave radio nodes arranged in a network, each node capable of directing or receiving a beam of microwave energy in a selected direction, the housing including a shroud enclosing a transceiver, antenna, switches, and utilities. Each shroud has a radome projecting from the shroud in line of sight relation to other radomes in the network. A microwave radio transceiver is disposed within the shroud, operating on a scheduled transmission and reception basis in accordance with a schedule provided in a control channel amidst data. A ball-shaped microwave refractive lens is located adjacent to the radome, inside of the shroud, with a curved array of feed ports and switches, with the feed ports communicating microwave energy between the transceiver and the radome through the lens in multiple selected directions.

  • Patent number: 5279489
Abstract: A container holder assembly (20) for use in a vehicle for support of an elongated container (22) in a substantially vertical orientation. The holder assembly (20) comprises a base (24) having a wall (28), and a substantially rigid retaining collar (26). The collar (26) is mounted to the base (24) and defines an opening (30) dimensioned to receive the container (22) therethrough. A flexible sleeve (32) is mounted to the collar (26) and extends around and downwardly from the collar (26) to define a passageway (34) which is formed to receive the container (22) when positioned through the opening (30). An elastic band (36) is mounted to one of the base (24) and the sleeve (32) and is positioned below the retaining collar (26). Further, the band (36) extends around the passageway (34) and is sufficiently resilient to substantially perimetrically and laterally support the container (22) about a midportion thereof.
