  • Patent number: 6808343
Abstract: A cutter bit is provided which includes a body having a pair of free ends with a cutter bit mounted adjacent each free end. A boss extends outwardly from the center of the body such that a portion of the body and the cutter bit may be mounted in a rotary cutting tool to allow the second cutter bit to be utilized. The bit is reversible such that either cutter bit may be positioned within the chuck of a rotary cutter tool while the cutter bit mounted on the opposite side of the body is utilized. A method of mounting a cutter bit in a rotary cutter tool is also provided which includes steps of loosening the bit within the chuck of the rotating cutting tool, removing the bit from the chuck, rotating the bit end to end, replacing the end of the bit that was out of the chuck originally into the chuck, and tightening the chuck.

  • Publication number: 20030221399
Abstract: The invention is directed to a single power unit that can drive many different implements merely by taking one implement off the basic power unit and replacing it with another one. The different implements can be a concrete mixer, a snow blower, a roto-tiller or a cleaning brush. The implement can take the form of a leaf blower, a rotary lawn mower, a chipper or mulcher, an electric generator, an air compressor or a wagon box among others. The basic power unit has a horizontally driven power take-off shaft that is coupled to any one of the various implements that also have horizontally extending driven shafts that will connect whenever one of the various implements is connected to the basic power unit. The various basic implements are constructed in such a manner that each one of them can operate in the manner designed for them. Various reduction or increase gears are used to either speed up the working device or to slow it down as the end work requires.

  • Publication number: 20020067727
Abstract: An illustrative intelligent network and method for providing voice telephony over ATM are provided that can provide significant advantages. The intelligent network includes a multi-service control point, an ATM signaling intercept processor, and a service administration. The multi-service control point receive an input extracted from an input ATM setup message that includes a called party phone number value and a VToA designator, and generates an output in response for use in generating an output ATM setup message. The ATM signaling intercept processor intercepts the input ATM setup message from an ingress ATM edge switch of the ATM network, extracts the input from the input ATM setup message, communicates the input to the multi-service control point, receives the output generated by the multi-service control point, generates the output ATM setup message using the output, and communicates the output ATM setup message to the ingress ATM edge switch of the ATM network.

  • Publication number: 20020064148
Abstract: An illustrative intelligent network and method for providing voice telephony over ATM and point-to-multipoint connectivity are provided that can provide significant advantages. A method for providing a point-to-multipoint service to control point-to-multipoint connections using an intelligent network and a switched virtual circuit over an ATM network includes receiving a request from a calling party to establish a point-to-multipoint connection, determining if the calling party is authorized to make point-to-multipoint connections, rejecting the request if the calling party is not authorized to establish point-to-multipoint connections, analyzing the request to determine if the bandwidth requested for the point-to-multipoint connection is within authorized bandwidth limits, and rejecting the request if the bandwidth requested is not within authorized bandwidth limits. An intelligent network for providing VToA and point-to-multipoint connectivity is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20020061101
Abstract: An illustrative intelligent network and method for providing voice telephony over ATM and closed user groups are provided that can provide significant advantages. A method for providing a closed user group service to authorize VToA calls includes determining the closed user group identifiers for a calling party, determining the closed user group identifiers for a called party, locating a common closed user group identifier that is common to the calling party and the called party, analyzing the privileges of the calling party in the common closed user group to determine if the calling party can make calls to other users of the common closed user group, and analyzing the privileges of the called party in the common closed user group to determine if the called party can receive calls from other users of the common closed user group. An illustrative intelligent network and data structure to provide closed user group services is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20020009086
Abstract: An illustrative intelligent network and method for providing voice telephony over Asynchronous Transfer Mode (“ATM”) and private address translation are provided that can provide significant advantages. The method includes generating an input ATM setup message at the calling party CPE that includes a VToA designator and a called party phone number, extracting information from the input ATM setup message such as the VToA designator and the called party phone number, analyzing the information, designating an ATM address of a called party CPE to be stored in the first parameter of an output ATM setup message, determining if private address translation is needed, designating the ATM address of the called party CPE to be stored in a first instance of the second parameter of the output ATM setup message, designating an ATM address of an egress ATM edge switch to be stored in the first parameter of the output ATM setup message, and generating an output ATM setup message.

  • Publication number: 20010026553
Abstract: An intelligent policy server system and method for providing multiple service features and for controlling bandwidth usage in an ATM network. Signaling messages generated at the user-network interface (i.e., an edge switch) prior to establishing an end-to-end switched virtual circuit are intercepted by a signaling intercept processor for effectuating policy features or permissions by executing appropriate service logic at the policy server associated with the edge switch. A return message from the policy server determines whether a call connection can be made through the network or not. Profile arrays are provided which define feature authorizations and provisioning for subscribers and Customer Logical Ports served by the edge switches. Depending on the triggers associated with a signaling message received in the edge switch, a particular feature is invoked and executed by the policy server.

  • Patent number: 5905372
Abstract: A terminal device powers a portable data device by transmitting in two modes of operation. In a first mode of operation, the terminal transmits to the portable data device a power signal at a first level and a data signal using a first modulation format and a first bit rate. In a second mode of operation, the terminal transmits to the portable data terminal a power signal at a second level and a data signal using a second modulation format and a second bit rate. The terminal determines a requirement to change modes of operation, and changes modes in response to changing power requirements of the portable data device.
