  • Patent number: 5074622
Abstract: A scissor frame lift for pivotally moving a dump body hingedly secured to a truck frame comprising upper and lower frame assemblies having the rearward ends thereof pivotally secured together and which are pivotally moved relative to one another by a hydraulic cylinder operatively interconnecting the upper and lower frame assemblies. The lower frame assembly includes a pair of elongated frame members, the forward ends of which are operatively pivotally or rotatably secured to mounts secured to the frame members of the truck frame. The upper frame assembly includes a pair of frame members, the forward ends of which are operatively connected to mounts secured to the runsills of the truck body. The distance between the rearward ends of the frame members of the lower frame assembly is substantially less than the distance between the frame members of the truck frame and is substantially less than the distance between the forward ends of the frame members of the lower frame assembly.

  • Patent number: 5048896
Abstract: An improved scissors-type hoist for dump truck bodies comprises an upper frame and a lower frame pivotally connected at a scissors axis. One end of the upper frame opposite the scissors axis is pivotally attached to the dump body, and one end of the lower frame opposite the scissors axis is pivotally attached to the truck chassis. A force multiplying power hinge assembly comprises an elongated guide link pivotally attached at one end to the lower frame and a lift link pivotally attached at one end to the upper frame, the other ends of the guide link and lift link being pivotally connected together. A hydraulic cylinder is pivotally connected at one end of the lower frame and at the other end to the pivotally connected guide and lift links.

  • Patent number: 4592593
Abstract: A scissor frame lift apparatus is employed in combination with a dump truck and the like, the hoist including upper and lower pivotally interconnected leg members which in turn are pivotally connected at opposite ends to the underside of the dump body and the chassis of the truck, respectively, and lift cylinders extend along opposite sides of the leg members between the dump body and chassis to elevate and tilt the dump body. The upper limit of advancement of the dump body is controlled by a frame stop member which defines an angular extension of one of the leg members and moves into engagement with the other of the leg members before the cylinders reach their full limit of extension and thereby absorb the force of the dump body when it is lifted to the full limit of its extension about the hinge.

  • Patent number: 4148528
Abstract: A scissor frame for a truck hoist for stabilizing a dump body mounted upon a truck when it is lifted and tilted. The frame includes an upper leg and a lower leg hinged together by an offset pivot to permit the legs to fold against each other. The lower leg is connected to a saddle pivot mounted upon the truck frame. The upper leg is connected to a support pivot mounted upon the longitudinal base beams of the dump body, and when the dump body is retracted with the base beams lying upon the truck frame, the support pivot nests against the saddle pivot and the folded legs lie upon cross members of the truck frame in the space between the longitudinal base beams of the dump body.To resist torsional and lateral strains, each leg is a torsionally-rigid, rectangular tube. The combined cross sectional height of the tubes, as when folded together, cannot exceed the distance between the truck frame cross members, whereon the lower leg will lie, and the cross sills of the dump body which are carried by the base beams.
