Abstract: A patient interface device contemporaneously records patient symptoms with an automated recording of heart rhythm data from a portable heart monitor. The patient interface device includes the portable heart monitor and a computer with a user input means to enter symptoms and store them in computer memory. Code means operable on the computer enables entry and recording of the symptoms. Where the portable heart monitor is activated automatically, a signaling means alerts the patient that it has begun recording and that symptoms experienced by the patient should be entered and recorded. Preferably, the electronic record of patient symptoms and the recording of the patient's abnormal heart rhythm event are linked such that they are accessed and used together.
