Abstract: A mailing assembly for use in connection with non-domestic delivery of a mailpiece wherein the sender of the mailpiece is required to complete a sender's declaration. The assembly includes a mailing label, a receipt card and a backing sheet. The mailing label and receipt card are detachably connected to each other and form the entirety of the complete mailing form. Such form is, in turn, adhesively connected to the backing sheet having approximately the same size and shape as the form. An adhesive layer is only provided between the mailing label and the backing sheet and not between the receipt card and the backing sheet. The sender provides all the necessary information on the mailing label relating to the contents of the mailpiece being delivered. The sender also completes the receipt card which serves as a declaration in compliance with U.S. Customs' requirements. Upon completion, the receipt card is detached from the mailing label and retained by the U.S. Postal Service for recording purposes.

Abstract: A system and a method for mailing a mailpiece requiring special service delivery is provided as well as a mailpiece that requires delivery by a special service. The assembled mailpiece includes a return postcard and a return envelope independently detachable from a remainder of the mailpiece. The mailpiece may be printed with information to be sent to an addressee by a sender. The sender may receive a return postcard verifying delivery of the mailpiece, and the sender, or another individual, may also receive a remittance in the return envelope also independently detachable from the assembled mailpiece. The assembled mailpiece is formed from a single sheet that may be printed with variable information on both sides of the sheet. The information may relate to the mail handling or to other information to be sent to the individual. The assembly is particularly suitable for special service delivery of mail including return remittance of payment or the like.

The return postcard and the form are integrally formed, but removably attached, such that the return postcard remains attached to the mailpiece until received by the addressee at which time it may be removed.

The sealing system has a translating station for moving the flapless envelope via a conveyor, an opening station for opening an end of a flapless envelope by means of suction and a sealing station for moistenable adhesive on the flapless envelope to thereby seal the flapless envelope. The method has the steps of lifting a top sheet of the flapless envelope using a plurality of suction tubes, holding a bottom sheet of the flapless envelope using a suction controlled bottom plate, applying a fluid onto an adhesive on the bottom sheet of the flapless envelope and squeezing the top sheet to the bottom sheet to seal the flapless envelope.
