Abstract: A child safety restraining device comprising: (a) one ankle strap having a first end and a second end; (b) means for fastening the first end and the second end of the ankle strap to each other; (c) one anchor strap having a first end and a second end; (d) means for attaching the first end of the anchor strap and the ankle strap to each other; and (e) means for anchoring the second end of the anchor strap to an apparatus, e.g. a shopping cart, in which a child may be seated, at an anchoring point on the apparatus. Also provided are methods of using such a device to restrain seated children and increase their safety.
