  • Publication number: 20230304321
Abstract: A lock mechanism is disclosed. The lock mechanism includes a body and a clasp with a hole in. The clasp engages and locks with the body. There is also a key receiver with a keyway and a latch biased in a first direction by a spring. The latch has a protrusion for engaging the aperture to lock the clasp to the body. There are split pins which straddle a shear line between the latch and key receiver when in a locked condition and that do not straddle the shear line when the correct key is in the keyway. The split pins are biased by springs in a second direction, transverse to said first direction. The lock mechanism also has a retainer for maintaining the engagement of the latch and the key receiver.

  • Publication number: 20210108442
Abstract: A component for use in a locking device such as a door lock or a padlock or bike lock that uses a shackle is disclosed. The component includes a body and a pair of rotatable plugs which sit within a cylinder of the body. One plug is connected to a handle and the other is connected to a lock release mechanism. A bridge selectively connects and releases the first and second plugs and an actuator, cooperating with biasing devices, is used to determine whether the bridge is in a connecting or releasing condition. This is in turn determines whether the component is acting to operate the lock in a locked or an unlocked condition.

  • Publication number: 20200190859
Abstract: An electromagnetic locking device is disclosed including a barrel and a plug which are able to move relative to one another when in an unlocked condition. A locking mechanism, within the locking device, includes a pair of shuttles which include permanent magnets which are caused to move in opposite directions by an electromagnet to push the shuttles into respective recesses so as to not straddle the junction between the plug and barrel. Also forming part of the locking device are one or more jammer mechanisms which include ferromagnetic jammers which are drawn into recesses when under the influence of external magnets. If a strong external magnet is used to draw the shuttles into the recesses therefore not straddling the recesses, the jammers are drawn into the recesses and straddle that junction thereby maintaining the locked condition.

  • Patent number: 10533345
Abstract: An electronic locking device including a cylinder and a plug located in the cylinder. Within the plug is a solenoid with a pair of shuttles which move in opposite directions. A control processor controls the solenoids activating the shuttles when connected to the correct key. Blocking elements for each shuttle are inserted through the cylinder and into annular channels in the plug. The blocking elements receive and allow linear movement of the shuttles but prevent their rotation within the annular channels. In a locked condition the shuttles are contained only partially within the annular channels thereby preventing rotation of the plug within the cylinder but in an unlocked condition the shuttles are contained within the annular channels thereby allowing rotation of the plug. The plug also includes a weakness defining a point at which it will break upon application of excessive force.

  • Patent number: 10047540
Abstract: A locking device and system are disclosed. The locking device includes a barrel within which sets a plug. A plurality of pins sit in pin pathways that extend partially through the barrel and plug and the pins prevent rotation of the barrel within the plug when the ends of the pins are not aligned with a shear line. One of the pins has a recess formed therein within which a locking ball can sit. The engagement or otherwise of the locking ball in the recess is controlled by a linear actuator. When the linear actuator allows the locking ball to disengage the recess the pin with the recess in can engage the key and a line the end of the pin with the shear line.

  • Publication number: 20160290012
Abstract: A locking device, particularly a pin tumbler lock, is disclosed. The lock has a barrel with pin pathways formed therein and a plug. The plug includes a cassette with further pin pathways and a body for receiving the cassette. Key pins, driving pins and springs are contained within the pin pathways. The device includes a fixing grub screw for selectively fixing the body to either said barrel or said cassette, thereby allowing easy re-pinning of the plug.

  • Publication number: 20140238090
Abstract: A padlock is disclosed. The padlock includes a body and a cylinder mounted within the body, the cylinder being able to rotate about a first axis relative to the body. The padlock is movable between a locked condition in which the lock cylinder is prevented from rotating about said first axis, and an unlocked condition in which the lock cylinder is able to rotate about said first axis. The cylinder includes a first bore perpendicular to the first axis and having a first end and an open second end, and the body includes a second bore having a first open end and a second open end, the second bore extending between the open second end of the first bore and an external surface of said body. The first and second bores are substantially collinear. The lock also has a rebate disposed on the external surface of the body adjacent the open second end of the second bore that allows access to the second bore from outside of the lock.

  • Patent number: 7775073
Abstract: An improved locking device, such as a combination padlock, is provided in which the re-coding thereof can be carried out in a convenient and/or efficient manner. The locking device has a body including a plurality of dials disposed to surround a lock member in an axially spaced relationship therealong. Relative axial sliding movement is possible between the dials and the lock member between a locked position and a release position. The lock member has at least one generally radially extending exterior locking configuration received in a corresponding first location at one side of a dial in the locked position, and in a corresponding second location within a dial in the release position. Each dial, in the release position, is angularly movable relative to the locking configuration so as to allow re-coding the dial.
