    Abstract: The electric lamp has a glass lamp vessel (1) having seals (3) from which an external metal wire (6) extends. A bare corrosion resistant contact wire (7), having a specific resistance of less than 0.8 .mu..OMEGA.m and a hardness of 50-300 HV is welded, e.g. butt-welded to the external metal wire (6). The contact wire (7) has an axial free end portion (8). An transversally extending intermediate portion (9) may be present between the seal and the free-end portion (8). The lamp allows secure electrical connections to a luminaire easily and rapidly to be made.

    Abstract: A pair of lamp holders (5) and a pair of contact members (20) for mechanically and electrically mounting a double ended electric lamp (50) transversely to the optical axis (4) of reflector means (3) present in the housing (1). The contact members (20) each have a first body (21) with an electric contact (23) and a second body (22) to cooperate to keep a current lead (51) of the electric lamp (50) against the contact (23). The first (21) and the second body (22) have a hinging connection (24) one with the other, and a lock (25) at a distance therefrom for keeping them pressed one against the other. In an embodiment the housing (1) has a door (6) hingingly connected to a major part (1') of the housing. In this embodiment the hinge (24) and the lock (25) of the housing (1) act a the hinge (24) and the lock (25) of the contact members (20). The luminaire provides for an easy, fast and secure electrical connection of a lamp.

    Abstract: The electric lamp has a lamp vessel (1) having first (2) and second (3) opposed necks, each having an end portion (4). Current conductors (7) extend from an electric element (5) having an axis (6) through a respective neck (2,3) and end portion (4) to the outside. Mounting members (10, 11) are secured to each of the necks (2,3), remote from the end portions (4). Each mounting member has a first metal body (20) which is fixed to the neck in a selected area. A second metal body (30) is secured to the first metal body (20), and has an aligned surface (31) which is in at least one of three perpendicular directions (x,y,z) in an aligned position with respect to the electric element (5). Each mounting member furthermore has a third metal body (40) having references (12) which is secured to the aligned surface (31), such that its references (12) are in a predetermined aligned position with respect to the electric element (5).

    Abstract: The capped electric lamp of the invention has a ceramic cap (10) having a shell portion (12) and an integral base portion (11) through which metal pins (13) pass. A lamp vessel (1) having a seal (4), from which current conductors (3) to an electric element (2) within the lamp vessel extend beside one another to the exterior, is fixed in the cap (10). Outside the lamp vessel the current conductors (3) each have a portion sealed in a glass envelope (6) which is connected to the seal. The glass envelopes (6) define a slit (5) between them. A ceramic partition wall (20) having a foot (21) is fixed on the base portion (11) and extends into the slit (5), thereby creating for the current conductors and respective contact members connected thereto their own compartment (14) in the cap. The lamp cap (10) and the partition wall (20) are readily obtainable and easy to assemble and nevertheless allow for high voltages to be used to ignite or to hot restrike the lamp.

    Abstract: The capped high-pressure discharge lamp has a lamp cap of insulating material provided with a centrally disposed contact member and with a metal sleeve concentrical thereto. A first end of a discharge vessel is mounted within said metal sleeve and a current supply conductor is attached to said metal sleeve. The rotationally symmetrical geometry of the cap allows insertion of the lamp into a holder in any rotational position.
