  • Patent number: 6148024
Abstract: A system and a method for transmitting coded information bits using multitone techniques on a frame-by-frame basis. For transmission, coded information bits are mapped into differential phase signals and absolute phase signals are generated based on differential phase signals. N complex symbols are then generated and inverse discrete Fourier transformed into N complex, time-domain samples, which are augmented with a cyclic prefix and suffix. The augmented N complex, time-domain samples are then separated into two real samples and converted into first and second baseband signals. The first and second baseband signals are impressed into quadrature carrier components to form in-phase and quadrature signal components which are combined into an RF signal prior to transmission. For reception, a received RF signal is non-coherently quadrature demodulated into first and second quadrature baseband signals.

  • Patent number: 6009096
Abstract: A wireless base station having sectorized distribution and omni-distribution of services is combined with ATM processing. Both narrowband and broadband services can be provided to fixed and mobile wireless subscribers by a flexible intelligent ATM base station. Two way integrated voice, wireless data, wireless multimedia, and compressed video services to a wireless subscriber using different narrowband and wideband common air interfaces. Uplink service includes narrowband signaling and bearer information signaling. A wireless base station can transmit a variety of omnidirectional services to all subscribers within a service area and can transmit certain services to a sector of the service area, that is to particular subscribers.

  • Patent number: 5600633
Abstract: A wide variety of services both narrow band and broad band are provided to wireless stations both fixed and mobile by a flexible intelligent ATM base station. Such a base station provides two-way integrated voice, wireless date, wireless multimedia, and compressed video services to a wireless subscriber using different narrow band and wide band Common Air Interfaces (CAI). Uplink service includes narrow band signaling and bearer information signaling. By having a single base station perform these services, the number of station sites, required for a given level of service, may be significantly reduced and the spectrum utilization may be significantly increased.

  • Patent number: 5592470
Abstract: A wireless broadband communication system architecture is structured to provide an array of narrowband and broadband services to an end user on demand. The bandwidth of delivery is dynamically adjusted to deliver and satisfy service requirements by utilizing the appropriate bandwidth on demand. Bandwidth-on-demand is provided in accord with the invention by rearranging spectrum allocations so that a particular band spectrum is convertibly used to accomplish different purposes depending on present allocations and active applications of the system. The communications system is designed to utilize wireless communication for end point delivery to both fixed and potable terminals. The system supplies basic telephone service, wireless ISDN service, wireless data service, wireless multimedia service and various other wireless broadband service including types of interactive and broadcast video.
