  • Publication number: 20020166194
Abstract: Conventional leaf blowers have a supporting frame to where the different components are attached. In order to reduce the noise from the tool and protect some of the components are they provided with covers. This makes the tool heavy and complicated for the operator to use. The claimed invention is a covering casing (10) that also is the supporting structure for the different components in the tool. The casing reduces the amount of noise spread from the tool and protects the components inside the casing (10).

  • Publication number: 20020088431
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for adjustably limiting the maximum speed of an engine powered hand tool controlled by a power-regulating device (11) located in the handle of the tool. The device makes it possible to optimise the speed of the engine for the job that is to be done. The device consists of a threaded shaft (15) that is moved by rotating a nut (12) and a spring (14). When a higher speed than the selected level is required, is it possible to increase the speed to the maximum speed available by pressing the power-regulating device (11) with a force that exceeds the force from the spring (14).

  • Patent number: 6227162
Abstract: A system (1) for cleaning of intake air (2) for a fan-cooled combustion engine intended for a working tool, such as a chain saw, cutting machine, grasstrimmer or lawn-mower, whose engine is equipped with a fan wheel (3) enclosed in a fan cover (4) for cooling of the engine. A flow duct (5) is connected to the fan cover (4) at least at one of its both ends (6, 7), and a deflection duct (8) is arranged in the wall of the flow duct (5), so that the ducts (5, 8) are forming a T-like crossing, and the deflection duct leads to the engine's inlet duct (9), usually via an inlet volume (10) and a filter (11).

  • Patent number: 6213066
Abstract: A drive unit (1) for a handheld working tool, such as a chain saw, trimmer or hedge trimmer, essentially comprising a housing part (2) with a fuel tank (3) and an engine unit (4) with a fuel supply unit (5) such as a carburetor (5), a muffler (6), and a crankcase scavenged combustion engine (7) with a cylinder (8), piston (15) and crankshaft. The engine (7) has at least one inlet port (9) located in the cylinder wall (10) of the engine and/or an adjacent part of the engine crankcase (11), and the engine's inlet duct (13) from the inlet port (9) up to the fuel supply unit (5) has a length longer than 1.8 times the engine cylinder stroke (18), preferably longer than 2.0 times the cylinder stroke (18).

  • Patent number: 6161509
Abstract: The invention refers to a cylinder (1) for a two-stroke internal combustion engine intended for a handheld working tool, preferably a chain saw, and the exhaust duct (2) and transfer ducts (3, 4) of the cylinder are symmetrically arranged around a mutual symmetry plane (5) which follows the centre line (6) of the cylinder, and at the mouth (7) of the exhaust duct (2) outside the cylinder, a mounting plane (8) with mounting holes (9) for a directly mounted muffler, is arranged.According to the invention, at least one inlet port (11) is located in the cylinder wall (12) and/or in an adjacent crankcase half (10), and the cylinder's in let duct (13) up to the inlet port (11) is so arranged that it forms a fixed and heat-conducting part of the cylinder, and has a length longer than 0.8 times the diameter (14) of the cylinder, preferably longer than 10 times the diameter.

  • Patent number: 6086260
Abstract: The subject invention refers to a crankshaft bearing system (1) for an internal combustion engine, in which the engine's crankshaft (15) is mounted in permanently lubricated sealed bearings (2, 3), usually ball bearings (2, 3), and the engine's crankcase seals (4, 5) are located inside each bearing (2, 3), i.e. between the bearing (2, 3) and the crankshaft assembly (6) with piston rod (7) and counterweights (8, 9), and a draining duct (11) is arranged in the crankshaft so that it leads from a space (12) between one of the crankcase seals (4, 5) and adjacent bearing out to the surrounding air.

  • Patent number: 5927241
Abstract: A carburetor control for a carburetor of an internal combustion engine is provided, in particular for a motor saw, in which the carburetor has a gas throttle (16) and a starting means (25) such as a choke valve. A gas control (11) is connected to the gas throttle, and a start control (20) is connected to the starting means and adjustable between a starting position and an operating position. The gas control (11) has a first stop (26) adapted to engage a corresponding stop (27) on the start control (20) in order to positively adjust the starting means (25) to the operating position, when the gas throttle (16) is opened.
