  • Patent number: 8468695
Abstract: A machine which comprises two machining heads (1, 2) designed to machine crankshaft (5) ends and two machining stations (3, 4) designed to receive and secure at least one crankshaft (5). The machining stations (3, 4) are disposed between the two machining heads (1, 2). The crankshafts (5) are mounted in such a manner as to be disposed parallel to each other and oriented at 180°.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a machine for machining crankshaft (5) ends, which comprises two machining heads (1, 2) designed to machine crankshaft (5) ends and two machining stations (3, 4) designed to receive and secure at least one crankshaft (5), said machining stations (3, 4) being disposed between the two machining heads (1, 2). The crankshafts (5) will be mounted in such a manner as to be disposed parallel to each other and oriented at 180°. Additionally, the machining heads (1, 2) are designed to be positioned facing the ends of the crankshafts (5) of the machining stations (3, 4). Additionally, the invention relates to a crankshaft (5) machining process based on the fact that both machining heads (1, 2) alternately machine flange ends (9) and spike ends (8) in the crankshafts (5) secured to the machining heads (3, 4). In this manner, the machine machines crankshafts without stopping between the machining of two successive crankshafts.

  • Patent number: 6485401
Abstract: A process for drilling oil holes in a crankshaft at various positions lengthwise and widthwise about a longitudinal axis of the crankshaft, where the oil holes are perpendicular to and have angled directions with regards to the longitudinal axis. The process includes the sequential steps of placing the crankshaft in a horizontal position in a crankshaft holding unit and maintaining the crankshaft in a horizontal position through the drilling process. The holding unit is then rotated on a vertical axis until the crankshaft faces the drilling unit. The crankshaft is next rotated along the longitudinal axis of the crankshaft to position the crankshaft in a position for drilling a hole. The drill tool is then moved on a second and third axis until the drill tool is situated in order to drill the hole in the crankshaft.

  • Publication number: 20010008862
Abstract: A machine for drilling oil-holes in crankshafts and the corresponding procedure. It can be used to drill one, two or more crankshafts per cycle. Each crankshaft can revolve on its own axis. The unit described is mounted on a horizontally-faced rotary table with vertical rotating axis, to place the crankshafts at different angles to the Z axis of the machining module, maintaining the horizontal position of the longitudinal axes of the crankshafts. Facing the unit is the machining module, provided with two horizontal spindles, drill tool-holders, with their corresponding guide bushings and parallel to each other, one on top of the other, at the same distance as the two crankshafts. The module has movement in three co-ordinates: axis X (horizontal-transverse), Y (vertical) and Z (horizontal-presenting tools). A fourth axis W, (with additional module and independent action), moves parallel to Z and carries the guide bushings.
