Abstract: A banknote handling apparatus including a first unit for receiving banknotes deposited from outside the machine, a second unit for checking validity, quality and denomination of the deposited banknotes, and a third unit for bundling and packaging checked banknotes using a packaging device that has a roll carrying transparent packaging material for encasing banknotes in a closed package so that unnoticeable resealing of a banknote package that has been sealed in the apparatus and then broken open is difficult to achieve. A printing device is located above and close to the roll for printing information relating to the content of the banknote package with each bundling/encasing function in mirror image on an inner side of the transparent packaging material taken from the roll so that the content information is durably printed thereon and readable right-way-up from outside the closed package.

Abstract: An arrangement for infeeding and outfeeding documents, such as banknotes, cheques, etc., having a command system for externally controlling the functions thereof, and a storage system for storing the documents fed into the arrangement between mutually coacting belts. The storage system has allocated, well-defined and registered document storage positions for incoming documents. A detector system functions to identify incoming documents prior to storage of the documents in the well-defined and unoccupied positions.

Abstract: An arrangement in an automatic document-handling apparatus for transporting large numbers of documents at high speeds includes first and second transportation paths for the transportation of documents in the direction of their long axes and transverse axes, respectively, and a gripping device for moving documents from the first to the second of these paths. This gripping device includes a firmly mounted, rotatable drive device, and a moveably mounted, relay-activatable co-rotating device rotating together with the drive device when in engagement therewith. The relay is inactive when moving a document between the transportation paths and becomes active upon completion of one revolution of the corotating device. This device is moved into engagement with the drive device, when the relay switches from its active to its inactive state.

Abstract: An arrangement for depositing valuable documents includes provisions for feeding the documents through an opening via intermediate storage between two mutually coacting belts (13, 14) to another opening leading to a storage space (18) of the arrangement. A command device can be operated to control the function of the arrangement from an external location. The coacting belts (13, 14) are part of an intermediate storage device (131-141-20) which is pivotally mounted in a housing (16), allowing an infeed-and-outfeed opening (15) between the two coacting belts to be positionally adjusted to one of the openings, either in response to a command from the command device (34) or in response to a signal from a sensor (17) adjacent a document transport path in the proximity of the intermediate storage device (131-141-20).

Abstract: An arrangement for feeding banknotes detects sequentially transported banknotes and controls their transport to a plurality of storage locations each having an additional infeed, which together form part of a transport path. The arrangement consists of one part (11 . . . 133) which incorporates an infeed opening (61), a detector (121) and a part of the transport path, along which the banknotes are fed in the direction of their longitudinal axes, and another part (201-2705) which incorporates modular storage locations (26,27) which house cassettes (26',27'), and the remaining part of the transport part, along which the banknotes are fed in the direction of the transverse axes. The length of each banknote is established with the aid of a measuring device (14-16) and therewith the location of the midway point of the banknote.
