    Abstract: A tracheostomy assembly comprises a tracheostomy tube having an obturator inserted therein, the obturator including two resilient catches at its machine end extending along the outside of a coupling on the machine end of the tracheostomy tube and engaging lips on the coupling. This prevents the obturator being displaced rearwardly. The obturator can be disengaged from the tube by twisting it relative to the tube.
