  • Patent number: 9674689
Abstract: A method, a personal area network device operating as a slave, and a short range communications device operating as a slave are disclosed. A data storage 208 may store at least one protocol-specific channel criterion for a connection with a master short range communication device 104. A short range transceiver 108 may execute a preliminary device scan of a scanning set of communication channels for radio frequency energy. A processor 204 may decide to execute a full device scan based in part on the protocol-specific channel criterion.

  • Patent number: 9438293
Abstract: A communication device and method mitigates specific absorption rate (SAR) exposure of a user. A radio frequency (RF) transmitter amplifies outgoing communication signals to a total radiated power (TRP) level. A matching network electrically connected to the RF transmitter receives the outgoing communication signals. The matching network divides the TRP level of received, outgoing communication signals to a first power level at a first network output and to a second power level at a second network output. First and second antennas electrically connected respectively to the first and second network output radiate the divided, outgoing communication signals at the first and second power levels. A SAR controller communicatively connected to the matching network controls the matching network to shift transmit power between the first and second antennas while maintaining TRP level to reduce SAR exposure of the user.

  • Patent number: 9118394
Abstract: A method and system selects an antenna for signal propagation within a wireless communication device having multiple antennas. A transfer switch controller identifies an operating mode being initiated on the wireless communication device. The transfer switch controller configures a dynamic transfer switch based on the operating mode initiated to support propagation of each available type of communication signal. In addition, the transfer switch controller utilizes a pre-established priority of each available type of communication signal to select the appropriate antenna. The transfer switch controller communicatively connects, utilizing the configured dynamic transfer switch, each of at least one transceiver associated with the operating mode initiated to a specific antenna, where each transceiver supports propagation of a specific type of communication signal.
