Abstract: In one aspect of the invention there is provided a method of manually releasing power actuated vehicle park means in the absence of power, the method comprising the steps of: rotating a power actuated selector shaft from a park mode position in which one or more wheels are locked by the park means to a park release mode position in which the one or more wheels are released by the park means; and locking the selector shaft in the release mode position by means of locking means, whereby the successive steps of rotating the selector shaft to the release mode position and subsequently locking the selector shaft in the release mode position comprise manual translation or rotation of one or more members in first and second directions respectively, the first direction being different from the second direction.

A transmission housing (103) according to a first embodiment of the present invention has one or more vibration control panels (105) formed in a sidewall of the housing (103). The vibration control panel (105) is inset from a surrounding section of the sidewall (103). A transmission housing (203) according to a second embodiment of the present invention includes an elongate undulation (205) which forms a ridge and a corresponding groove in the transmission housing (203).

Abstract: A control cable system for interconnecting an actuator (21) with a slave device (12) and comprising two Bowden cables (24,25) each comprising a sleeve (31, 33) and inner traction cord (32, 34) and a cable connector (26) for interconnecting the two cables, one cable (24) connecting to the actuator (21) and the second cable (25) connecting to the slave device (12), the connector (26) holding the two sleeves (31, 33) in a fixed relationship with the two traction cords (32, 34) being interconnected via a connecting device (29) which permits movement of the slave device (12) and second traction cord (33) without transmission of said movement to the said one traction cord and which transmits movement from the actuator (21) to said second traction cord (33).
